Help How Do I Fix my Camera (S4) Response Time ?

so it takes the picture the split second your hand is on the shutter? I have yet to use an S4 that does this.

i guess I can go back to the Verizon store and demo 5-10 phones until they bring out the one that works and I'll exchange it for that one. That would be the ideal solution
 
you should try a third party camera app. i used the paid version of camera zoom fx and it works great on my end. fast response time also.
 
it doesn't matter what app you have. i believe they all use the same camera sensor and auto-focus system.

i have too many camera apps to even bother listing.
 
I am sorry i have to disagree. Some apps work better with the system. I have not issue with the camera using the camera zoom fx.

The way I see it is like this. Lets say you decide to make a camera app to use on android. You will take your time with it, and make sure its perfect. Its your creation. Whereas these big companies just push more apps out aka facebook not matter the problems are. They just want to get them out there.

Like I stated before some apps work alot better than the system apps because they are made and tested for that phone. I dont have very little delay using the camera zoom fx. I supported them since the start.
 
I have used camera fx. The app I have used most is Camera Awesome. It was developed by a the same photography company I use to host my photo website (Smugmug). While in the past this seemed to be my favorite option for the S3, it has the same issue on my S4.

I think I'm going back to Verizon and just asking them to bring out 10 S4's. I'll take the one that I feel works best or .....just switch over to the iphone.
 
Try this. If you are in developement options go down to where it shows windows animation scales and change to 1.5x, transistion scales to 1.5x, and animation duration scale to 1.5x. i had a few friends say they noticed a delay in the camera app. they changed it and they said there is no issues. they are also using camera zoom fx

Wouldn't you want to set those three to OFF? I think 1.5 is the default. Setting them all to OFF makes a big difference in overall app speeds.
 
There is a lag on my UK S4. I would estimate it is just less than a second between pressing the button and taking the photograph. Sometimes that delay doesn't really matter but there have been numerous occasions when I have tried to take photographs of children or animals and I've missed the shot because of the delay.

It is a little frustrating but if I want proper photographs, I use my DSLR.
 
i would say the reason its out of focus is because you selected the focus area and pressed the shutter. however, the computer has the original focus area locked and in the 1/2 second delay the subject moved out of the focus area. i still haven't gotten to my store to replace the phone but it is on my agenda.

Idk maybe its just me, but mine was at 1X and I raised them up both to 1.5 and I see a greater and better difference.
 
I would have thought that if anything, decreasing the animation scale, not increasing it, would have a more beneficial affect on the shutter speed.
 
Idk but a buddy of mine at work also said he saw an increase in speed. Not much for his but it still shows

the issue is not the shutter speed. shutter speed is measured by the amount of time in between when the shutter opens and closes, but the measurement does not start until the shutter is actually open and ends when it is finally closed.


the S4's issue is the the amount of time it takes the shutter to open once you actually press the "button"

sort of pre-shutter speed.
 
well then, maybe its just must be me and a few of my friends i dont see an issue with the changes.
 
Here's the final verdict.....

I went back to Verizon to try out other S4's. Every single one had the gap in time with the camera button. They told me this is just how the camera was made.

Very disappointed.
 
I believe the term you are looking for is Reaction Time, not shutter speed. Reaction Time is the amount of time it takes for the shutter to open once instructed to do so.
