Help How do I get the Droid to stop saying "Droid?"

Help! I just got a Droid last night (first smartphone I've ever had), and it drove me crazy all night -- it wouldn't stop yelling out "Droid" while it was charging. How can I get it to charge without saying its own name? And, is it going to randomly say its name if I have it on during the day? If so, how do I stop it from doing that?

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

That is your default notification. It will notify you when you get an email, text message or anything else that "notifies" you. The easiest way to keep that from happening is to silence your phone at night or go into the email and text apps and turn off notifications. If you want to still allow some people to call, there are apps that will allow certain numbers to get through. I'll have to go look again to see what that is called.

It's called Night Ringer. There is a free and a paid (1.99) version in the market.

Just change your notification sound.

To do this, open each application that has a notification sound, open the menu and go to Settings (it is usually on the menu bar that pops up but can sometimes be under the "More" option on the menu). There should be a Notifications Sound option where you can change the sound it makes when it needs to notify you of an event.

If you go to Settings, Sound & Display

Scroll down to Notification Ringtone, the default is set to DROIDD - you can change it.

but why would you want to?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I guess one man's love is another man's hate. I get a little chub worked up when it tells me its name, then I pet it on the screen and say "I know baby, I know"

if you dont use your phone as an alarm clark (i do) just put it on vibrate or turn the volume off. If its the actual droid ringtone then like everyone else says change your notification ringtone. You can even set that as silent if you would like.

My wife likes the way it says 'droooid" so much that she will send me emails when we're in the same room, just to hear it. I tell her that she's going to get sick of it, but it's been over a month now and she still likes it. :-)

That's how you know you've found a keeper!;)

The sdcard notification also makes the Droid say, "DROOOOID". That setting is found: Settings > Sound & Display > "SD card notifications". UNcheck that box if you don't want to hear it on bootup, or when you plug your DROID into your PC/Mac.

But really... WHY wouldn't you want to hear that GLORIOUS SOUND!?!?! :)

Wash it's mouth out with soap?

Sorry, had to say it.

That may be because there is no other manly thing aroud her.:D

<just for laughs>

The guy that I share a cubicle with parrots the "droid" thing every time my ringer is on. Then, when I go home, my wife does it too. It cracks me up.
