How do i get the new 2.2 update?

Got a unlocked desire...i got a orange sim card thats works fine but iam confused on how to get the update. it still says 2.1 update in phone settings.

Go to Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates > Check

After the check, you should be able to get the update, if your provider will allow it.

go to:

menu > scenes

check if you have a carrier branded scene. if you do then you'll have to wait for that carrier to OK 2.2.
 
I have an unbranded Desire on 3 but the only update option I am getting at the moment is to software version 1.21.405.2. I am assuming the 2.2 firmware update would overwrite this on a system software update check??
