how do I hard reset my sons Chinese android tablet if it has no volume buttons

My son was given a chinese tablet for xmas by his nan, so when he was given it all it came with is the cables and a user manual (the make and model are not known and i have installed several programs to try and find out but to no avail). Now he has managed to lock the screen after to many pass-code attempts. I have tried to do a hard reset but the tablet doesn't have volume button buttons but there is a reset at the back and I have tried many different combinations to start the bootloader but still no joy. The WiFi was turned off as it was not being used but the usb debug was turned on the device has not been rooted i have tried using the SDK manager SRS root and many others to try and solve this issue but again no joy. I did manage to find a universal driver for it to be seen in the device manager (and makes the device connected sound when i connect the usb) but it is still not showing as recognized. I am getting a little frustrated to say the least (manly as i am a computer hardware engineer lol) so please could someone give me some pointers as to what to do

Is it possible to contact where it was purchased from? There should be some way of hard resetting it or recovery mode in the event of being locked out.
 
Those reset buttons ... sometimes you have to hold them down for upwards of 30 seconds before they actually reset. It could also be setup where after so many failed boots it automatically resets. Try holding the power button down through a series of reboots.

Without knowing anything about the device, we can only guess. :dontknow:
 
yeah i have tried to count now around 30 odd different combinations all to no avail :( the only thing i haven't tried is taking a hammer to the thing lol
