How do I import a movie into Evo? Noob!!

Sorry guys but Im a new member and a noob at this! I just downloaded a movie and wanted to save it on my Evo so I can watch it tomorrow?

Hook it up to your PC via the USB cable and select Storage mode. Then transfer the file to the Evo using Windows Explorer. I created a folder in the root of the SD card and named it Videos for all the stuff I watch.

Alternately, install EStrongs Browser, share out the PC folder that your video is in, and then transfer it wirelessly. If you are new to this, do the USB method because it's simpler.

Then download Rockplayer from the Marketplace. If it's an .avi file, you won't be able to play it with the stock video player.

storage mode? I dont see one! There is charge only, htc sync, disk drive, and usb teethering. Which one? Thanks for your help! Ps...its a avi. file.

what formats are able to play on the evo?

Sorry, Disk drive is storage mode. HTC used to call it storage mode in WinMo.

Rockplayer is free. Or rather, there is a free ad supported version available. I'm using the free version myself (but I really should buy it as much as I've used it). Just hit the back button at the nag screen. All the features work.

I don't think the default video player can handle anything other than .mp4 files. Rockplayer handles avi and mkv as well as mp4 and flv and some other formats I've never used.

If you did a search you would have found it: MP4 container with h264 baseline codec at either 800x480 resolution or 1280x720.

Read these threads, if you still cant get it to play, come back here and let me know.

If Rockplayer didn't exist, I never would have switched to the Evo. If I wanted to deal with the hassle of converting my avi files to play on my phone, I would have gotten the iPhone.

Just kidding about ever getting an iPhone.
