How do i know if i have done the recovery image

I used the directions to root my phone and install a recovery image from theunlockr.com how can i tell if ihave done the recovery image right before i start modding

boot your phone into recovery mode:

hold down x while you turn the phone on.

Brings up same screen as it always has
