Help How do I prevent scratches to my screen

I got this phone launch and dont even have a single scratch, it's 100% smooth (i dont use anything). I've also dropped it maybe 5 times on the screen and it still looks new.. <3 gg. Really surprised how durable it is considering how often i drop it lol.. (on concrete)

What I can recommend is going to Walmart and buying a generic screen protector, and then cutting it and placing it on the screen, until your official screen protector arrives.

I've been using Phantom Skinz on my Evo / Epic / Captivate, and the screen protectors feel like the naked screen, but oils / debris wipe off very easily, and the screens are brand spanking new.

... Avoid sand.

Might I ask why you don't keep the current protector on until the reticent arrives (or is it warranty related for the protector)?

Unless you have a beach in your pocket, you'll be fine.

I use a case but not a protector and I have dropped my phone a few times with minimal damage to the case and zero damage to the screen.

I used to have a protector. But when it got ruined I took it off and love not having it. Not a single issue, knock on wood

It's useless once it's removed or peels off. It started peeling and dust started getting under it. Now I have a very small scracth, but it's nothing a scratch removing solution won't handle.

Are you ordering a Phantom Skinz screen protector? I've used many screen protectors and I love Phantom Skinz the best - it feels like there's no screen protector, so smooth, and so clear.

Mine started to peel and dust was collecting under it, so I had to remove it. These things are useless once they're removed, so they need to be replaced. I had it on ever since September, so I guess it's just been worn out.

From what I understand, the Epic 4G uses Corning's Gorilla Glass (CORNING

You don't need no stinking screen protector. I've dropped mine a few times, and keep it in my pocket naked, and no scratches what so ever. Screen protectors only take away from the brilliance of the screen.

Tell that to the single speck of dust that caused a scratch.

This :p

Dirt, dust, sand. Ultimately it's all capable of causing scratches regardless of what coating the screen has on it.

Fair enough. New one on the way?

There's a kiosk in my hometown that professionally installs it. I'll be back down there on Thursday, so I'm having it redone under the warranty. In addition, I purchased some LDC scratch remover on EBay that should be here on Monday. I'm sure that it will at least significantly reduce the visibility of the already minor scratch if not remove it completely. On top of that, the screen protector I use fills in scratches.

I'll just baby my phone until then.

Dust can not scratch Gorilla Glass. I wipe dust off my screen all the time, and it never caused a scratch. You must have gotten some sand or diamond dust under your screen protector.

You must be new here or not have paid attention. There are a lot of posts on the Epic forum where people have cried about their screens getting scratched up, even though they were uber careful. The Epic and Captivate both use the same screens and gorilla glass.

There were quite a few who had the same attitude as you, and then posted later that they were wrong and their baby was scratched.

Rubber case on phone only, no screen protector. Still no scratch. Maybe I have been lucky. Carry the phone in a separate pocket from keys and coins so that may also have helped.

Not new, but probably not paying attention I guess. Still can't imagine how anyone could easily scratch the Epic's screen. I've dropped my phone several times, and keep it in my pocket, away from keys and coins of course, but I certainly don't baby it. I wipe the screen off using either my Oakely soft case pouch, or my shirt tail. If I tried this with my prescription glasses, they'd be unusable. I think you either have to be extremely careless, or abusive, to scratch the Epic's screen.

I recently stopped using a phantom skinz screen protector. I went for a while (weeks) without a scratch. Now I've noticed a few. Only thing I can think of is keys which caused them, not sure. They aren't bad, can't see them unless you're looking for them when the screen is off.

And a new and more visible scratch today. Lovely.
