I have a deactivated HTC EVO 4G and I would like to root it, however I am a little confused on how rooting works with HTC handsets (I am familiar with rooting the samsung galaxy phones/tablets, well sort of, I do not know alot about it). My EVO is running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, Hboot 2.18, and HTC Software 5.07.651.6710RD (I was told that the last part (the HTC Software) does not really matter and that only the Hboot version does), I DO know for a fact that in order to root I will need the bootloader unlocked and I will need to flash a custom recovery image (amon ra's 2.3 or TWRP, just as long as it is not CWM). Another thing is there are multiple ways to root the EVO, which are the ones that are the easiest and/or will not lead to future problems along the way?
