Root How do I root my freshly updated 2.1 optimus?

First of all I know there is loads of threads kicking about addressing this very subject, but after reading these threads I am very confused. Can somebody please lead me through rooting my 2.1 optimus so I can install apps2sd, as well as the installing of apps2sd (or a link to a CLEAR step by step guide) All help appreciated, thanks, Craig
 
I've tried using that but I can't get it working. The cmd window says device not found, any ideas? am i missing something?
 
Yes I did, just this second managed to get it working, just started for some reason! think it was successful, I have some foreign looking app icons in my drawer. does that sound right? How do I go about installing apps2sd after I've partitioned my sd card??
 
I think I've done it, I've had a few problems along the way. Will test fully tomorrow, as it's now half 1 and god knows what time my son will have me up in the morning!

z4root just roots your device... It doesn't install Apps2SD... If you are running 2.1, there's a way but it's a little risky as it can damage your SD or Your device can get messed up...

i have running 2.1 or i can't take a risk as u say so,give me another way to install Apps2SD & if u have not any else so,tell me can i take a risk as u say & what procedure are......:confused:

There's no 2nd way to install Apps2SD in 2.1... I didn't do it & don't recommened it... If you want to do it, here's the Instructions: 1click app2sd now includes 1 click root - Android @ MoDaCo

Now, another way for GT540 is to update to 2.2... dudeman1996 has posted a nice & perfect guide on how to install 2.2 in GT540, in this forum... No one explained clearly about it like he did... i rooted my phone using z4root.. thanks..
after rooting, i installed app2sd.. it showed 'finished' and then i restarted my phone as i was asked to do..
But i cant see app2sd in applications..
please help me.. if possible give me step-by-step procedure.. i m new to android thing..
i will be grateful to you..
