How do I backup my settings ?

For instance, if I change the view of my bookmarks from the icon/thumbnail view, to the list/details view, how can I backup my settings so that this setting, and all my other settings, can be preserved ?

Another question--what exactly does "sync" sync ?

Unless you root, there is no way to backup settings. Without root, you can backup apps, but not settings.

Sync syncs whatever you have set to sync. (try saying that 10 times fast) If you go to Menu-Settings-Accounts and Sync, you will see all the things that are set to sync on your phone. My phone has gmail, Facebook for htc Sense, and Twitter set to sync.
