How do I share internet?

How do I share the phone connection to my laptop?
Ive tried to choose share internet in menu. But it won't work.

I have Modaco 2.3 Rom.

Don't know about that ROM but on mine new orange ROM. Install HTC sync. plug it in via USb once its connected tick mobile network sharing. It was really simple on my laptop. I have only used it with vista worked first time.
Which part are you having problems with? Will it connect to the laptop or can it not find I network connection?

If you have this ROM, the best would be to use "Wireless Tether". Then connect from your laptop to the phone by wifi...
