Help How do i stop shortcuts on my Home screen?

Hi Guys, Since i updated to ics everytime i download a new app now it put a shortcut on my home screen. I like to keep my screen shortcut free, beacause whats the point of putting a nice wallpaper on if u cant see it for apps . Anyone know how to stop shortcuts being added everytime i download one?.
im on O2 uk sg2 if this helps, cheers guys.

Play Store > Menu > Settings Auto-add shortcuts (uncheck)
