how do I sync all my contacts to save them online with google?

I assume you're talking about Oulook contacts. Export them in .csv format and then go to Google and import the file.

no, I mean contacts on my phone.. I entered them all, and of course have a gmail account since the phone makes you sign up for one. I was told you can sync them to your gmail account so they will always be stored.

I have no idea how to do that using just the phone. I would assume you can connect the phone to Kies and have Kies export your phone contacts to a .csv and then upload that to Google.

Settings >> Accounts and sync >> Add account >> put a check mark next to Sync Contacts. That will keep your phone contacts synced to a gmail account.

Yea...I don't think that's right. the Add Account thing that was quoted only sync contacts that are already in Google to your phone, it doesn't sync your phone contacts to Google (ie - make a new Google contact based off of your phone entries). You need to export those contacts and import them into Google.

Yes, just go into contacts > menu > more > Import/Export > Export to SD card. Confirm and when finished, copy the .vcf to your desktop and go to Google and import it.

is there any other way to back up your contacts... in case something happens. if I add new contacts it sounds like the phone wont upload them to google anyways.

THe best way to manage your contacts is that when you add a contact to your phone, you add it as a Google contact. It will always sync that way.

All be damned, I can't believe that doesn't work. Thanks for the info. You can edit it, but not it to gmail. Like you said, if you make it a google contact, not a phone contact, then it will add it to gmail.

Export them as described above. Import them to Google and then your Google contacts will sync with your phone and probably even link the contacts in your phone.

When you go into the contacts app and hit "Create Contact" a screen will pop up asking you where to save the contact. Select Google.

For me it was automatic, I had all my contacts on google, switched phones to this one, added my google acount to phone, and Bam- there they were.

2 problems I see with using google contacts-
1. google auto adds all addresses you email, including all craigslist emails and whatnot. So first time you sync, you may have to clean those out.
2. You cant change ringtones for google contacts-unless you put them on the "phone" contact list
