Help How do I sync outlook

Depends what you mean by "sync with outlook". If you just want email add your Outlook email account in Settings > accounts > Add account > Email

If you want to also sync contacts and calendar go to the same place and add a Corporate sync account. This uses Microsoft Actviesync if you are on an Exchange server or another type of server that supports it.

Do a search on activesync and exchange in order to see what settings you need to put into the phone. After you have the synch account setup make sure you uncheck Email in the sync settings and only leave contatcs and Calendar checked.

Ok, I have done this already but chose POP3 because my work is setup on a POP server. which works fine, so synching for emails is secondary but curious to see how it looks and works.

This is what I really want, to be able to sync calendar and contacts. But from what I understand is this wont work because im on a POP server.

Correct if Im wrong.

Thank you

POP has nothing to do with it. You need an email server that supports Activesync. And don't let people tell you that Google Sync works with Outllook it does not. It looks like it works and then starts doubling and tripleing you appointments.

The Photon is my first Android phone. I was only interested in syncing Calendar and Contacts. I found "MyPhoneExplorer" after much online searching. It worked flawless for me and it is free. Search for it in the app marketplace.

Setting up corporate sync took quite a while for me and it ended up being 1 simple thing that got it working. And it now works 100% flawlessly and it is amazing coming from a BB.
Where it asks for Server Address, use your company's server IP address, the actual #'s (xx.xxx.xx.xx type look). The rest of the info you need to enter is pretty straightforward.

i've been using Google Calendar Sync for about 2-3 yrs and it works perfectly. Now your contacts and mail. Mmm...different story.

Google Calendar Sync (gcal) does calendar, for contacts i am yet to find a suitable solution, gonna try "MyPhoneExplorer" as suggested above and will report back.

Currently, I just delete gmail contacts momentarily, and re-import from outlook, and gmail synchs with phone - i do this a i make the changes mainly in outlook - I just can't undertsnad why google can't add to or create similar to gcal for contacts - baffles me :-(((

Why suggest something at $40 (HUGE expense), when someone is (likely) looking for a free/cheap App!

Once I got approved to have my phone sync'd with my exchange, I agree...it sync'd flawlessly. In fact, I had to take off the sync from my Outlook Contacts at work because I have many duplicates that I had transferred over from when I was transitioning to the EVO from a HTC Touch Pro.

I use Google Calendar Sync to synchronize two Outlook calendars via laptops for two different companies.

it works swell. From time to time, it just stops working, but I've not had any issues with it replicating appts in the year plus I've been using it. Now, if someone sends an appointment to both of my accounts, then both of them store.

I am unable to use ActiveSync directly to sync with the Exchange server. While the Photon meets all the security requirements, Android does not. Our company only filters based on phone OS, not on individual phones. It's just as well. The encryption is a PITA.

As for contacts, I did some kinda manual update when I got the phone. I think I exported my contacts from Outlook and uploaded them to Gmail. I really only want my personal contacts on my phone anyway.

The bolded part is exactly what I did when I first got my EVO 4G last year. Since I already had a gmail account, I just deleted all my contacts in the Gmail account that would be sync'd with my phone and imported the csv file that I created from Outlook.

For those of you that don't know how to create a csv file from outlook, it's very simple. Here are the steps:

1) Open Microsoft Outlook
2) Click on File
3) Click on Import and Export in drop down menu
4) When Wizard pops up, Click on Export to a file and click Next
5) Click on Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next
6) Click on your Contacts and click Next
7) Name your file whatever is easiest for you and save the file (and choose a location where you can easily find it when importing to Google Contacts), then click Next
8) Make sure that Export "Contacts" from folder: Contacts is toggled
9) Click Finish

Once you've saved your file, these are the steps to import csv files into Google Contacts:

Did you get MyPhoneExplorer working successfully?

Agree the myphoneexplorer has limitations that are significant. In addition to what you've posted, my biggest problem was that MPE created something called a Motorola Services Contact on my phone when it imported the contacts from Outlook. Problem was that this Set of contacts was not listed in Accounts. So if I wanted to add a new contact to my phone, I couldn't add it to the place where all my other contacts were! I could only choose gmail, which wasn't syncing to Outlook.

I also tried Android-sync, but had all kinds of problems getting it to recognize my contacts. So after trying 2 freebies, I broke down and got VC Organizer, and I really like it. It not only syncs well, but gives you some great widgets with it. There's a very cool calendar app, too that goes well beyond the standard calendar. And it's about half the price of companionlink.

I highly recommend it.

I am trying to sync my email, contacts and calendar and have tried to use corporate sync account. After putting in all the details it says "login to the account failed". I have tried putting in domain\username and just the username. I am using the same password I use when connecting from my laptop. Any idea what am I doing wrong?

A couple qualifying questions:
1) Have you sync'd your corporate email to your personal cell phone before?
2) Are you sure that your company doesn't have strict regulations in connecting your emails to your phone, that need to be approved and set up by your IT department?
