How do I sync personal contacts to my PC?

I want to backup my personal contacts but I am unclear as to how to do this.
I though I read someone mentioned HTC Sync, but when I go to the HTC site, I can only find a upgrade and not the actual program.
Is HTC Sync the program I want and if so, where do I download from? (Windows format).
Will this also sync music?
 
While I do have a Gmail account, that doesnt sound like a pratical way of doing it.
I am a former iPhone user. iTunes took care of movies, music and contacts.
I dont really want to use an email program just to backup my personal contacts.
What does HTC sync do? I cant manage to find it.

Read your user manual, it shows you how to sync your contacts and stuff via Microsoft outlook for example.

Syncing music, I think it does that too, but one of the reasons among many other I went from an iphone to the Evo is that I don't want to be stuck syncing through itunes... I want the freedom to copy and paste whatever the hell I want.

Believe me, I a glad to be free of iTunes as well.
My company uses Outlook Exchange, but I cant mix my personal addresses with my work ones (we can have personal info on companies machines for security reasons etc). My EVO does do a nice job of syncing Exchange mail with work though. :)
