Help How do I tether my data?

I'm in Uk and so not on Boost in the US and am not rooted. Using jellybean 4.22 sense 5.0 the settings are in -> Settings -> More -> Mobile Network Sharing
There you have settings for wifi hotspot, USB network sharing and bluetooth tethering.

in USA 4.2.2 has not been released

and boost does not allow tethering natively.

you either have to use one of the apps I mentioned, or root your device and edit your build.prop

@lucids

have you been to xda-developers.com?

they have quite a few MODS fir your device, should you ever want to root it.

yes thanks been a member there a long while. At the moment have no need to root, and there are some apps I use that can't be used if rooted. When i get a new phone I'll root the htc one sv then. At the moment I'm happy with stock 4.22 :)

most, if not all, carriers here especially pre-paid usually don't allow hotspot or usb tethering without charging more.

I personally have not seen a pre-paid carrier such as boost ever allow native tethering.....

unless you rooted the device and modified the build.prop to such.

So foxfi seems to work fine but whatever settings I put on foxfi do not apply to my phone cuz I changed the hotspot name but when I search for it on a 3ds, it shows "HTC Portable Hotspot" instead of the name I put

Install nova launcher and go into the app drawer try using the native hotspot app

it's hidden for whatever reason using the stock sense launcher

Who damn HTC hopefully 4.2.2 comes soon cuz I want to root this thing and remove buttloads of apps

Ok now I have a problem with the connection timing out, I used my brothers phone to connect to my hotspot, but it always says obtaining I.P address for like a 1-2 minutes then stops trying

only rooting your phone will allow Wi-Fi hotspot

BUT

you can usb tether with the apps I mentioned

boost doesn't want us sharing our connection

you can root now, and still be able to receive 4.2.2

I've been rooted since ICS and I'm completely up to date

But don't you have to do all this other complicated stuff to update? Cuz I have read a couple threads and they seem complicated, especially when I'm new to HTC phones

[almostRUU][K2_CL]&[How To Update After Moonshine S-Off]

you can follow this guide

just omit the PL80IMG part,

it's as easy as restoring my 4.1.2 backup that I've provided

and then flashing the stock boot.img and stock recovery.img

then you can update all further updates.

and, I'll always be here to help guide if you need it

Still seems kind of complicated since I never had to all this for my LG Marquee, well ill think about it and read through it so ill know what to do when I decide to root it.

@russellvone

What's the mods again. I know you mentioned it over in XDA and I recall doing it but getting a soft brick... Anyways, let me know. Round two lol.
