Help How do i update to 2.1? And should i ?

Sup everyone i bought my xperia long time ago and it's been a while i havent loged on this forum ... i heard that there was a new 2.1 update so i was wondering should i update it ( i saw many people havin problems ) and if yes how do i update it ?

I have a rooted xperia.

Its really up to you.
Personally i thinks you should its a lot better then 1.6 in speed/battery life and overall functioning.And you get an hd camera option.

since upgrading will make me lose contacts ... i have to 'back-up' then to sim ?

if i have an unbranded x10 i have to do this step : 1.Flash Tool Part1 and part2 *(You must download both before extracting also extract both in separate folders.) ?

SRY I REALLY SUCK WITH computer and phone stuff

I updated this morning, followed the instructions as I usaully do, and all my contacts are gone, apps have vanished, music is gone and when I go to download apps it says 'your item will be downloaded' and nothing happens. Having said that, the browser is certainly quicker and the HD camera is great. I think if I ever update again i'll come on here first.
Also, if anybody has any tips to get my apps going again I'd be forever in your debt

Yes you need those their the tools that will allow you to update to 2.1.
And did you get them to download try the megaupload link if not.

Yes you can.But once youve done that go in the market and download sms back up and restore its free and will back up your sim and txts.

I'm afraid that apart from the look of the market itself, i'm having no more luck getting anything onto the phone. Perhaps i should try restarting the phone, although if the market has already changed i don't see how it would help...but i'm a novice

Try taking out the battery for 15 seconds and then restart maybe that will have some effect.

Those should work and part1 is 429mb part 2 is 254mb.

So I tried that, and i caan get onto the market page where i can see the items downloading. Except that they both say 'starting download' and say that for a while, but nothing really happens and after a while they just stop and become clickable icons that just take you back to their information page. Before i updated the downloads would be visible in the notification bar

Make sure that you go to Android Market and download app: SMS Backup & Restore by Ritesh Sahu and backup you SMS before you flash... 2.1 to your X10.

You will be able to restore you contacts with this after the flash is all done.

Thats in the guide i made that they were following and it really doesnt help unless all your contacts are on you simcard.So make sure you do that first and not to mention i already said this in an earlier post make sure you read them all before posting.
