coming from an iphone, just recently got joined the droid family, how do the apps that get downloaded from the market get updated? i know with the iphone, the app store icon will let me know how many apps needs an update. how does the samsung epic work?

Pretty much the same. Instead of on the icon, you can get them in the notification bar. You can always check in the market too and it'll tell you if an app has an update.
