how do u personalize text notifcations?

i have the htc hero. how do u personalize text tones with your own ringtone...per contact? ex. if i wanted to use a tupac song when my brother texted me. but i wanted to use a wayne newton song when my other brother texted me for his notification. i know how to use them for call ringtones, no problems there. thanks everyone!

I don't think you can appoint seperate message tones per person, just ringtones. There might be an available app to do it - or a custom ROM. But factory standard...no!!!

Handcent can do it, as can SMS Popup. Handcent is a whole other SMS app. SMS Popup is just for a popup app that allows for contact specific notifications. Personally I prefer Handcent.
