Root How do we go from party time 2.4 to stock and receive jb?

To go to full stock (unroot and original recovery) download and open samung keis. Go to tools then click firmware upgrade and initialization. Run through the process and you will be all set.

Does anyone know how to go back to stock and receive the update?
at this point... its not possible.. no1 has posted a stock rom... the stock odin file doesn't work... and you can't use kies...
now you can only wait for someone to post either a fully stock rom or the updated jellybean rom

I couldn't get Kies to work, I was on the phone with Samsung for over 2 hours and i get device not supported, even though the people at samsung officially stated it was.

I just left the Kies w/s, and in the FAQ section, there was a link specifically pointed at the "Device not supported" inquiry...click on it and you'll get the 'Page not found' run-around...wonder if their "official" position has changed on that subject?:stupido3:

I'm not sure, I talked to 3 or 4 different people at Samsung that said the phone is supported. Nobody at Samsung said it wasn't.

james, might I inquire from you if you were rooted, and what rom you were running when you did this? I ask because I have been trying to do the same thing you have, but with no luck-whatever I try. Also, which v. of Kies, and did it tell you that "your phone is not supported by v2.0?"

Edit: Kies finally recognizes my phone, but is saying that my "current" firmware isn't supported for "upgrade initalisation thru Kies"...wtf??

Kies is trash, it just never manages to connect to my device. No hope for firmware recovery or upgrade, since I only get as far as inputting the S/N which never takes in any format (HEX A00000XXXXXXXX, et al). I have Party Time v2.4, which is obviously rooted, and the baseband says MB3 at the end.

My phone still keeps finding the MB3 update from February whenever I do the force stop and clear data on Services Framework. I'm thinking VM is just rolling out the JB update, so hopefully one of these days my device will find that and do the update.

Got me the same issue, Kies didn't recognize my serial number. It didn't recognize my girlfriend s SN either, which I thought was odd since hers is basically stock but rooted. I'm running super helado. Neither of us can update using Kies or OTA.

I have the exact same problem, MetalLink. I really hope there's a solution.

If you have a stock rooted nandroid its a piece of cake to get the update.
I was running Party Time on one of my Reverbs.
I nandroided back to my rooted stock backup.
Used Odin to get back to stock recovery and then flashed the 0e253abba40a.update_SPH-M950_MB3_to_MD6 update I took from my son's Reverb's cache.
No muss no fuss. It was actually pretty easy.
You don't actually need the update zip. Once you're stock with stock recovery you should be able to force the download.

Remember though... just putting the stock recovery back on won't do anything for you. The custom roms are deodexed. I imagine the update checks for stock (odexed) files in order to pass. Going back to stock is a must or you'll keep getting the status 7 error.

If you still haven't gotten Jelly Bean, don't worry! I made a CWM-flashable zip for the Stock Jelly Bean rom. It's uploading now. When it's done, ill make a thread on it.
