Help How do we rename GN2?

The default name appears to be a form of the model number. How can I update the device name? VZW model, if it matters.

Don't know if it will work on your version, but on the Sprint version its..
Settings, Lock screen, Owner information,
Then enter whatever you want to call it.

Not sure if this is what you mean but go into bluetooth settings then hit menu (left soft key) and rename device.(your bluetooth must be switched on to do this)

Isn't that where one puts their "own name", as in, "This property belongs to....if found...". As opposed to the device's name, as seen by other devices on a network, for instance.

Yes, that is correct. If you're trying to change the name as it would appear on the network follow what evohicks posted above.
