Help How do you close an app?

When I "exit" apps, they seem to remain running. If I close a program and I open it up, it is at the last screen I was on (even if I use other apps between the time I "exit" and start it back up). How do I properly close an app?

Some apps give you the menu option to close/exit/quit by pressing the menu soft key. Otherwise, you can press the back soft key until it closes.

You don't. Some apps let you exit but most apps and programs stay running so when you return to it, it opens quickly. What happens is your phone wisely decided which apps need the majority of the systems resources. If your on twitter all day and facebook for 5 minutes, Your resources will go towards keeping twitter smooth. But a few will remain with facebook in order to keep it running should you choose to go back to it.

You can also download the Go Launcher EX theme with not only gives you alot of options for your theme, looks better (IMO), it also gives you more control over your apps. If you decide to download you can simply go to ur apps>running> then you can press the box listed close all programs (apps) or you can click on one app and just stop that app. Sometimes you have to click close a couple of times for it to stop running that app.

This ^^

android does a great job managing your tasks for you. if you think it is using processing power, you are wrong. for the most part, the only time you need to kill an app is when it is hung up on something or malfunctioning or actually running in the background. use watchdog lite from the market, it will alert you to any apps that are malfunctioning that sould be fully closed out of. other than that, let that RAM fill up, because with android Free RAM is wasted RAM. this is NOT a windows system.

I may be wrong but I think alot of the confusion about how apps run in android is the fact of bringing MS windows os familiarity to android.
Something I had to shall we say forget when using a Android device.

Thanks,
Bryan
