How do you close the web browser

When I use the default web browser and get finished I can find no where to close it. I just hit the home button to get out of it, but I am sure that leaves it running. So, how do you close out of it and shut it down?

Use the backup button.:o

Just keep doing previous page until you are out. This is true for all apps. It is too bad they do not have an "end" button.

If you use the backup or home button, then does that leave the browser still running in the background, using battery power?

Download app killer right from your free apps on the Droid. I have the app killer advanced and you hit home and touch the little green guy and it shows ALL the applications that are running. Touch the kill button and they all close instantly. Best of all is that the app is free.:D
There is also Taskiller which does the same thing. Free

Yeah app killer is fine, but remember it won't use up resources in the background if its still "open". Open on the android doesn't stick to its traditional meaning.
