Root How do you create a custom ROM?

Hey all,
I'm pretty interested in getting into developing ROMs even though compared with the popular ROM devs I'm probably a complete noob. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good place to start as far as creating a custom ROM goes? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks, I saw that too. That article is for a 1.6 ROM on a MyTouch though...I'm guessing the overall method is similar but I'm not sure if it's the exact same. I'm also reading up on this thread: [KITCHEN][DEC. 7 '10] HTC Android Kitchen, v0.110 [Linux / Mac / Windows] - xda-developers
Still not sure if this will work on a Droid X.
