Help How do you determine your charge rate?

Im a noob to android. I just got my epic a few days ago, and today I read that there are some issues with charge speeds, particularly charging from the car's power or usb outlet, when using some usb cables, adapters, chargers, etc. How do I tell if im charging at the default .75 amps or the slower usb .5amps, or if an adapter is labeled as a 1 amp adapter is actually charging the phone with 1 amp?
 
I'm using "Battery Monitor Widget" - The gauges don't match perfectly (Usage seems to show charging as it goes to 0 when I'm not charging, Low rate (USB charging shows 700mA), High rate (AC charging) shows 1000mA.

**Update**

I like it... Although, Im wondering why its reporting a charging amp rate of just 276mA. It reports that value whether Im charging using AC current, or in the car.
