how do you get the front camera on???

Open camera app, longpress anywhere on the screen to bring up a menu. Drag your finger to the icon on the far right of that menu to switch between front and rear cameras.

Or as I prefer, tap the menu settings button on the view/preview screen in the camera app (it's the one on the lower right side of the screen if your phone is being held in upright/portrait-style), then tap the right icon in the menu. (Effectively the same as described above, but without having to hold your finger on the screen and drag it around.)
