Help how do you get the nexus to play with earbuds?

I cannot get the nexus to play with air buds or speakers. No sound comes through when I plug them into the 3.5 millimeter port.

Does something have to be configured that I don't know about as with my cell and other tablet, I simply plug them into the port. Is It possible that this does not work with netflix?

Have you tried turning the volume up? I don't mean that sarcastically either. I think there is a separate volume level for the earphone jack that can only be set when the earphones are plugged in.

Tab isn't on silent? Sounds like your jack might be defective, you shouldnt have to do anything special my old droid headphones work fine after just plugging it in til it clicks

You either have the tablet muted, or a defective jack. Go ahead and get a replacement.

I will see what happens to the volume when my external speakers or JVC earbud is inserted.. it may need to turn volume up but if not I am glad I got it at Sam's as their return/exchange is very easy. I will report back after I test to see if volume needs to be increased after headset insertion.

Make sure the headphones are connected to the tablet properly. Pushed firmly in etc. Know it sounds stupid but I've done this before with other devices.

you were right.. there is a separate volume for when you put headset or speakers in jack it is very low volume and perhaps muted... Thank you..

Janey yes Idid that as was said above. the nexus will mute when you plug in
speakers
