How do you manage your contacts on Galaxy Note?

Asica

Hi all,

Just got a Note pre-loaded with ICS and am loving the gorgeous screen. Wow! I am coming from a HTC Incredible S and the Samsung take on Android seems superior to HTC's in most ways. That said, I'm struggling with managing my Contacts. So far it has listed contacts from two Gmail accounts, my Skype & WhatsApp. My main problems are:

1) Duplicate contacts; there are sometimes 3-4 entries under the same name.

I tried downloading a Contact Anaylzer app but as many reviews said, it hardly found any of the duplicates and doesn't merge them very well at all. Don't bother using this. Is there an easier to merge?

2) Displaying hundreds of contacts with no phone number; I only want to see contacts that have a phone number.

I found a website that says I will have these options to display my contacts:
To sort contacts or set display options, press:
'Menu' > 'Display Options', then select from:
'Only contacts with phones': this hides email-only contacts:
'Sort list by': you can set this to sort by first or last name.
'View contact names as': you can set this to view contacts as first name or last name first.
'Choose contacts to display': select which source to use contacts from.

However I only have 'Sort list by' and 'View contact names as'. There is no 'only contacts with phones' option here.

3) How to set a custom photo for Contacts?

Thankyou for any advice guys! If there are built-in or 3rd party apps (that actually work!) I'd love to hear it.

1) Long hold on one of the contacts you want to merge and select 'Join contact' then click on the contact you want to merge with

2) Menu > Settings > Only contacts with phones

2+) You can also Menu > Contacts to display > Customize then under your Google account select to only show 'My Contacts' with is much more useful.

3) Edit contact > click on the blank picture > choose 'Take photo' or 'Select photo from gallery' or 'S Memo'

-->I tried long-holding on many contacts for various lengths of time and nothing ever comes up.

2) Menu > Settings > Only contacts with phones

-->This setting does not exist for me (running stock ICS). I have attached screen shots. These are the steps I take:
-click People on Home Screen
-click Settings button
-choose 'Settings' option
-'Display Options' are shown with only two options: Sort list by & View contact names as

If I click the back button or the menu at top that reads 'Display Options', it goes back to my contact list. Is there a hidden menu I am missing?

Comments above.

I usually just edit it from the google contacts page on the browser tbh. Since I'm logged in on my Note they're just all there. I haven't stored contacts on the actual phone since I had a dumbphone.
