It would interesting to see how people are organizing their desktop/home screen. I have read a few people's random forum posts but this might help some of us learn a new trick or tip.

Answer the poll and then post a bit more info.

Middle: Most used apps
PIM (Cal, Dialer, Contacts, Gmail), IM, Messaging, Browser, Maps, Calc, Quicklist

Left: Games

Right: Internet Enabled Apps and Google Search Widget

Removed: Clock - seemed like a good use of space wasted with a persistent clock in the upper right.

center: all communication, plus browser and maps

right: system apps and other apps I want to asses.

left: nothing yet but as I get more I will start to use it.

DK,
in your poll you mentioned some might not yet know how to remove an app from the desktop... quick tutorial... press and hold the app, once its movable the menu tab at the bottom turns into a red trash can, just drag and drop.

middle - widget clock (not really because i look at it, but i think it looks good)
dialer, contacts, browser, and messaging (most used shortcuts)

left - college football plus (the greatest app ever), maps, im, youtube, myfaves, brain genius, mem, weather, wikimobile, market, compare anywhere, and calendar (i don't use all of these a lot, i just like the columns to be the same, 3 X 4)

right - google search widget, anycut shortcuts to wi-fi, bluetooth, and gps. I'd like to have one more so I would stay consistent with 4 shortcuts per row, but can't think of anything yet.

To add on that - to get an app from the bottom slider into a left, right, home screen, click and hold it and a shortcut will jump on the currently visible screen.

I find it slightly annoying that you have to be in the view you want the app in when creating the shortcut. Or that you can't move an app from say the left to the middle, you have to delete it, go to the middle and repeat the shortcut creation. <-- thanks to Vivid I learned something new below and this is incorrect.

DK,

you can move desktop icons to any screen... Click and hold icon, once it become movable push it to the desired side, hold it close to the edge, soon it will flip to the next page, then position and use. its a bit trickie but it works

I corrected my post...thanks. That works great!

vivid - i wasn't aware of this either, thanks a million - another pet peeve busted.

Couldn't answer the poll, doesn't fit my situation.

Left side - Individual contact shortcuts for my top peeps, and twitter (of course!)

Center - Dialer, Contacts, Browser, Messaging (I deleted the clock)

Right side - AccuWeather, Calendar, Calculator, Shortcut to the Google Notes online app, Maps, Shortcut to battery status screen, Video Player, Shortcut to Bluetooth settings.

I plan on keeping the center pretty clear. Right now my background is Domo Kun. I would like a Calendar and Weather Widget so I can actually SEE my appointments and the weather without having to open those apps. But luckily I'm not going to be too busy until next month, so I can deal.

I've kept my home pages simple for now:
Left: Gmail - IM - Text (picture frame)
Center: Dailer - Contacts - Browser - Maps (Clock)
Right: You Tube - Music Player - Video Player (Search)

For the most part I'll keep my home pages simple since I like to be able to see the wallpaper.

Here's a clever solution - download Live Shortcuts on the android market (there's a free version but you only get 3 "live" shortcuts with this - full version is only couple of bucks). Fill a home screen or 2 with Live Shortcut widgets - now your icons will automatically change to show only the ones you use most frequently!

I simply use FOlder Organizer and do not really have much on the screens apart from the weather and few switches, uptime and setcpu.

I'm rather new to this forum, and have been looking for a good screen organizer for my SGP5. (apps seem to grow there on their own!) I was tired of constantly scrolling back and forth looking for a given app. I checked out a bunch of the launcher apps but they went WAY beyond what I was looking for. I just wanted to organize my home screens...that's all.

Well, Folder Organizer (paid version - $1.99) fit the bill perfectly. It encompasses all the things that one would want to organize and does it with style. Very customizable and versatile. It's simple, fast, and to the point...no bloat.

My thanks to Szadzik for the tip.

My main home screen is very minimalistic and quite empty to look at but there's a lot going on underneath. I use GO Launcher and just have a small Beautiful Widgets clock and weather at the top and nothing else apart from the Go dock at the bottom.

The dock has shortcuts to phone, people, app drawer, messages and internet but by swiping up on each individual one, I have secondary shortcuts to Mix-Zing, Tune-In, Vlingo, Gesture Search and Camera 360.

Likewise, a swipe up on the screen will bring up UK Weather app and swipe down will hide/display the notifications bar. Touching the date on the BW clock will launch Flashlight and touching the weather icon will launch the BW weather screen.

Simple yet uber functional. :)

Center/home screen: Beautiful Widgets 4x1 weather, Simple Calendar Widget and Make Your Clock Widget.

Left: Social (FB, Twitter, G+), Gmail, Tapatalk, Market, Games, Camera/gallery

Left left: Media; Pandora, PowerAmp, TuneIn Radio, Netflix, Amazon MP3, Google Music, TWC app.

Right: Assorted stuff that I use but doesn't go w/the other stuff. Goggles, Carr Matey, Contacts, Navigation, AKNotepad, news site folder, settings, power control/bar widget.

Dock: Dialer One, Google Voice, Interwebs, Engadget, NewsRob and app drawer launcher.

You missed. Home screen, analog clock only and a nice view of the Monitor and Merrimac buttes in Utah. Second page, most used, third page, least used. I prefer a plain opening screen. Red Rocks prettier that a whole mess of apps.

I like my homescreens clean, no icons all over for me.

I have the apw weather/clock wideget on one screen, my calendar on a 2nd, and a power control widget on a 3rd.
I use go launcher and use the dock to launch 30 different apps. I also use the swipe up gesture to launch my camera and swipe down to launch the dialer.

Center: Mostly blank, just Google+ widget, camera, browser, and weight tracking apps

Left: 1 full screen friends widget (LauncherPro widget for Facebook and twitter feeds)

Right: Calendar widget (month view) and some folders (made with SmartShortcuts)

Lock screen: Clock, agenda widget, and a slider that launches my camera

Most everything is in folders either on the right screen or my dock. Out of the 130+ apps on my phone I only have 16 apps in my app drawer, the rest are hidden because they are in folders.

Middle: Clock/Weather, Google Voice, Calendar, Contacts, Twitter, Music, FM Radio, Gallery, Camera.

Right: Power Control widget, Accounts/Sync Shortcut, Running Services Shortcut, University App, Remote for iTunes, Google Maps, GPS Status, News folder, Record widget, Foursquare, Google +, Starbucks, Flashlight.

Left: Email and productivity apps.

Good question. I use ADW Launcher free version and have 7 home screens. I have like 205 apps and use "Apps Organizer" to organize my apps in folders and place on my home screens. (All my home screens are full for the most part.) My Nos. 4 home screen is my main home screen. I have weather, books, health, text messaging, task manager, calendar and ringer widget. 1st home screen I have 4 widgets: Youtub, Pandora, PowerAMP, ESPN. iHeart app. Folder include: weather, security and news. 2nd home screen 4 news widgets: Local, sports, world and science. Have short cuts to kids school info. 3rd home screen have a bunch of folders: car stuff, maps/location, education, drawing, banking, health/food, local events, shopping tools, shopping stores, entertainment and music. Have a few widgets: battery and google search. 5th screen have a few widgets: Executive Assistance and My Data Manager. Have a few folders: travel, greeting cards, board/card games and arcade games. 6th screen have widgets: Lockapp, GPS, bluetooth, wifi and tech. news. Have a few folders: documents, tools, orgainizers, computer tools, cellphone tools, house tools, communications, internet, voice and picture tools. Have QuickPic app too. 7th screen all widgets: Quickapp Cleaner, Coupons app, Grocery Smart, Groupon and 7 colornote post-it widgets. In my dock bar I have dialer, gmail, yahoo, contacts and apps drawer. Hidden dock tray: ColorNote, kitchen timer, Android market, Volume Controls, Calculator and Tips calculator.

3 screens. Middle screen is all widgets (clock, battery, music controls, calendar). All follow a consistent theme. Left and right screens have widgets and specialized folders like sports, navigation, camera, games, etc. I also have a 3 screen dock at the bottom.

Top: Weather widget, time, battery%
Middle: Smart shortcut to favorite apps, invisible lock-unlock link, Raindar link.
