How do you see how many texts you've sent?

If I go to 'messages' the number in the brackets is the number of exchanged texts between you and that person (so sent and received).

How do you simply look at how many texts you've sent? I don't want to go over my tariff allowance!

If the phone itself doesn't do this, can you tell me an app that does?
Phonalyzr is a great app for calls, I want one similar for texts.

Text sent and recv'd count on your limit ... unless you have a totally different carrier service ...than i have ever heard about ... Your Text msg Count is the Total = Sent + Rcv'd

justjimjpc, here in the UK, carriers only charge or deduct from bundles texts sent.

I know in the US, its different, as you describe.

I am in the UK as lewispb has pointed out and though I know I can call my service provider, all my previous (less advanced) phones have been able to show how many messages I've sent. It seems a pretty basic thing really.

I have never had this on any phone of mine. It seems so simple to just call up and number and hit two keys to find out.

Looks like the iPhone doesn't do it either, at least not out of the box.
I know this as I just fired up Cydia and in the recent apps area there was a program called "SMS counter".

Doesn't seem like a common out of box feature, especially since you would need to manaully make it reset its count at the end of a month.

Over the phone tells you REMAINING mins/texts which is much more useful, and reliable.

If you use ChompSMS it has a Messages Sent counter that shows how many you've sent via your mobile carrier. You can reset this counter at any point.

Personally I like this app more than the original one on the Hero

That's what I was looking for thanks, this was a useful answer.
