Help How does one reset a default choice like input method or audio choice?

I was trying to set a ringtone for the alarm clock when a popup asked if I wanted the phone or Handcent SMS to be the default choice, for some reason all the actual music loaded on my phone is under the "handcent sms" choice and the only thing under the phones options are the built in ring tones. Since I checked the stupid "always do this" box now I don't have the option to use any of the media in my music folder for alarms, ringtones, etc.

Do I have to wait for an update, or is there some way to reset this and have it ask me again? I've been clicking and holding over various settings options with no luck.

I'll piggyback on to shigglyboo's post and ask the same/similar thing. I was using handcent for a while, and then my wife started having difficulty receiving my text msgs; they'd get to her all garbled up. I uninstalled it and just use the default messaging app that came on my Optimus M. Now, I can't choose my music as alarms or as ringtones.

By default, regardless of Handcent, the phone does not support personal media in system menus. In order to have anything recognized in a system menu without a 3rd party app, you have to create the following locations on your SD Card:

Alarms/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as an alarm sound.
Movies/ - All movies (excluding those taken with the camcorder).
Music/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as user music.
Notifications/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as a notification sound.
Podcasts/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as a podcast.
Pictures/ - All photos (excluding those taken with the camera).
Ringtones/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as a ringtone.

Not a problem. On a side note, defaults for other actions are listed under the app which you gave the rights to. Home -> Menu -> Application -> Manage Applications -> [Application with the default] -> Scroll down and click the button that says "Clear defaults".
