How does the phone utilize extra Micro SD memory?

How does the phone utilize extra Micro SD memory?

By this I mean, and using PC terminology, is the extra memory used like a separate "D" drive where only stuff like photos and videos can be stored?

Or - is the memory seamlessly integrated with the preinstalled memory to give me a larger"C" drive?

It is not seamlessly integrated. When you record a video or take a picture you'll get prompted if you'd like to use the SD card for storage or the phones internal storage.

It becomes an E drive. You can store camera pics and videos, but apps do not write to it.

C is app memory, you get about 2GB from the phone's built in 16.

D is the internal media. It's about 11GB and acts like an SD card. Your app2sd cards will go there, and this is where apps write their data to.
