how I got sprint to waive the $10 evo surcharge for the next 2 years

I also was close to run to att, my contract with sprint expired 2 years ago and was in month to month contract ever since, sprint knowing they could loose a customer offered me a $50 credit for both lines ($100 total), 25% off every month and $10 credit every month, and the $150 credit per line towards upgrading! I couldn't refused.

So to those getting the $10 off. Is there any indication on whether or not you are losing 4g ability? Did you just snag future 4g for free when it DOES come to your town (or if you go to IT). I thought about giving it a try, but I don't want to lose 4g for when I go up to Atlanta on vacation, or (hopefully) move to Maui next spring.

Also I've been trying to determine if the percentage discounts can still add up. I'd like to get an extra 10-15% off being a student and a CU member in addition to my discount through Wal-Mart. Or I could just eat ramen once more a month...

no this has nothing to do with service. they're just giving us $10 off every month for 2 years. good to see other people are succeeding in pulling this off. this is capitalism... this is the foundation of america! do not feel guilty for being self-serving =) sprint will live without your $10 a month and FU to the guy who thinks we're immoral for asking for a discount... he's probably just jealous he's not eligible.

So if I am an AT&T customer planning on switching to Sprint on June 4th. How do I get into the everything referral program? Do I just call and ask about it?

you need a sprint employee's email. i think there was an email being passed around in another thread, or possibly on another forum... search around a little i'm sure you won't have trouble finding it.

Well in my case I wasnt being greedy because this $10 and the discontinued $20 credit was put in place for legacy and sero plan users to give them incentive to drop those old plans for a newer plan.

Im sure there will be more people paying the $10 fee with no credit than those without.

I personally will not turn down or attempt to get a good deal from a huge company that can obviously afford it or else they wouldnt offer it.

As far as the deal ending June 1st just means that they are ready to start rolling out their new series of deals and promotions.

so so so true... I'm also coming from a sero plan as well.

Actually Executive Services has more power than retention reps.

I'm almost positive Executive Services IS Retentions.

Oh and umm, twospirits, your a twospirits. Oh looky just called you a NAME. what'ya gonna do 'bout it?:cool:;)

Theory:
You pay what you get for...right?
If you are paying $200 for the phone and extend your contract for another year (premiere) or 2 (not premiere) then you are paying what you get for.

If you want 4G then you should pay the $10 fee for a "faster" and "better" service.
However, if you are in an area that's months or years away from 4G why you should be forced to pay the fee for service not rendered?

Also, Sprint originally stated there would be not surcharges for 4G and now they are implementing this $10 charge.

Sprint has lost A LOT of customers in the last 4 yrs and expanding their 4G network in a bad economy has taken a toll on their stock/investors.

My opinion:
If you don't live in a 4G area then they should void the charge.
If you do live in a 4G area then you should have to pay. Simple as that .

having 4g or not having 4g doesnt matter. the 10 fee is not for 4g service. its an evo fee.

An EVO fee? What the heck is an Evo fee?

I think its very shady of Sprint to charge people for 4G if they dont have it where they live. This should be a feature that can be enabled for your phone by Sprint. So if you live in a 4G area you can have it and pay for it.

The people saying that it is unethical to get a discount on service are completely off base. There is absolutely nothing unethical about getting a discount that Sprint is officially offering. It's in their system to be offered to customers in return for renewing a contract. No one is stealing or being sneaky about anything here. You're signing a 2 year commitment and they're offering an incentive to do it. Just because Sprint doesn't put the offer on a bill board doesn't make it underhanded on the customer's end at all. It's there to keep you locked into a contract.

Also, there's absolutely no relation to getting a free pizza either since you are signing a contract in return for it. No one is really getting something for nothing here or "tricking" their way into some kind of freebie. I got this discount added to my account as well. All I told them is that I'm off of contract and have been looking around. That's it. And what I said is all totally true. I didn't tell them anything about being dissatisfied with service or say I was seriously considering switching. I just said I had been looking around now that my contract is over which is true because I'm an informed consumer and want to be sure I'm not missing out on a better offer somewhere else. I asked them if they had anything to offer if I just went ahead and signed up for another 2 years right now. They offered the discount and I took it. In return they locked me into another full 2 year contract.

I don't like the $10 Evo charge, but I didn't even complain to them about that either. However, the guy that did complain about the extra charge is within his rights to do so. They didn't have to offer anything to him. However, they did and in return he had to give them 2 more years of legal commitment. So again, it's not like he was getting something for nothing there. Sprint wants people locked into a long term contract and he gave it to them. More than fair enough.

That's the standard offer to leave a SERO (and other legacy) plan, unforuntately I haven't heard of anyone managing to avoid the $10 EVO fee. With the EVO as popular as it is with the fee, Sprint doesn't seem to have any real incentive to waive it.

I wonder if folks would be more upset if Sprint had just charged $450 for the phone, like they did with the TP2?

They were a bit more generous a few months back, I managed to snag $20 a month as my bribe for leaving SERO and trading in my Mogul for the Moment. (I love the Moment, just gonna love the EVO more :) )

The monthly credit DOES STACK with other discounts including EPRP and Employer based.

I made a post earlier listing the easy to get public discounts:

10% if you belong to a credit union
15% for students
15% Everything Plus Referral Program

All are publicly available and easy to get.

Just an FYI to this you can only get one of the discounts at a time. I tried to call to get the credit union discount as well as my employee discount and it was a no go. They stated that they will only let you have one and it is at least the higher of the two. My employee discount is 17% so of course I am sticking with that. lol

So you cant have the everything plus discount and employee discount?

Not with the simply everything. I was trying to add the credit union discount to my phone but they told me that I could only have one and my employee discount is higher than my credit union discount. I knew that the simply everything they would not give me any discount at all.
I had tried when I stared with my company and they told me that the simply everything plan as is was as low as they would go. Whn I went to just the data plan that is when my discount kicked in. Besides I don't make many calls to land lines anyways so it was no big deal to me all in all it saved me money in the long run.

Im a longtime sprint customer who resigned my contract in Oct. when the Touch Pro 2 came out. Anyone have any thoughts on how I wont have to pay the full retail of $450 for the Evo when it comes out?

Thanks

Sell your phone on eBay. The Touch Pro 2 is going for $200+. Just pay the difference.
I'll be paying $200 for the evo plus taxes. But I'm selling my Samsung Moment for $150-$160 on eBay. So I'll really pay the difference (about $60).

yay i just got the $10 fee waived for next 2 years as well

This is definitely YMMV. I called and got nothing except the EPRP program. :(

They just said that att is inferior... and stressed that i am paying a premium for the phone and it's worth getting off my $30/mo. SERO plan.

Oh well, maybe I will look at the iphone 4g. With atts new pricing on data, i can get 40 + 15 (data) + 5 (200 texts) = 60/mo. before and corporate discounts and what not. Might be time to jump ship. =T

I just got off the phone with Sprint and they said that right now it would be impossible to get the $10 surcharge for Evo waived they went onto say that if someone did do this they could be terminated!

will i need to change plans. Im an ancient 700 min plan with fair and flexible for and extrac $.05 per min i go over my plan. I also have unlimited data and text.

thanks

I had my $10 off for two years done -- the rep specifically told me that the incentive ended in June 1st to prevent the deluge of EVO customers calling for retention offers.

I'm thinking of leaving Verizon for the EVO. Do you think I could get Sprint to give me some kind of credit to help me with my ETF.
