Root How important is flashing a new kernel for MikG 3.11?

I recently flashed MikG 3.11. How important is it that I also seek out a specific kernel like ChopSUEY? I'm trying to decide if also flashing a kernel is really worth it or if what comes with MikG is already ok. There seems to be so much out there that I'm having trouble figuring out if it's really important or not. I'm not looking to tinker CPU settings or anything.

Thanks,
- Matt

That all depends on what you're looking to accomplish. If you'd like to use apps like SetCPU or ROM Toolbox to over/underclock your CPU, then flashing a custom kernel is necessary. Just make a nandroid and start trying out different kernels to see which one works best w/ your Evo, and don't forget that it takes at least a few charge cycles (or a couple days) to determine whether or not the kernel will play nice w/ your Evo.

Ok, thanks! It doesn't sound like I'd need one then as there really wouldn't be much benefit to me over what's already included in the MikG ROM.

I would check out anthrax. It kicks Ass as far as performance goes over the stock kernel.

If you need to scratch the itch to flash something else that is ;)

It's got beats code baked in, so it improves music quality, and if you are running a Rom that supports it you'll have full beats support.

It's the best sense kernel as far as performance goes for me. Battery life isn't too shabby either. Give it a few days to settle in before judging it

Your links are the correct kernel. Try wither v4 or test build 9. If you can't find them I can give you my dripbox link

I agree that Anthrax is the best. Underworld is pretty good too and offers SBC and a boatload of CPU governors to choose from.

Hey, I'm having trouble flashing the anthrax kernel on MikG3.11. Each time I've flashed, I wipe cache and dalvik cache before and after flashing. But my evo is stuck in boot loop....the only way I get it back to to re-flash MikG rom again. I'm set at s-off already....what else do I need to do?

What is your HBoot version? The ENG version (0.76 maybe) won't boot with the Anthrax kernel. You will need to upgrade to a higher one. There is another version below 1.0 if memory serves correctly. I have never touched my bootloader so I'm not the best to ask how to change it.

Mizz is correct, if you have the original bootloader anthrax will not work.

If you don't have the original bootloader you have a bad download

I was reading up a bit on this kernel but it seems the devel pulled it.

I assume that MikG 3.11 is fully compatible with it?

Thoughts on Smurfed out?

I would generally say I am not going to go tweaking processor clocks, but I would be interested in ways to better battery life and get possibly better performance via wifi ( I also tether quite a bit to my laptop and tablet ).

These did look intriguing. I assume someone has a copy of the Anthrax kernel stashed someplace ?

The dev pulled anthrax because he was being sued by people over having beats code baked in. You can still find download links online or pm me for one
