How is CDMA radio performance in the Verizon Galaxy Note 2?

Excellent. Better than the S3. The S3 had good 4g reception (qualcom) and average to above average 3g reception. The note 2 has excellent 4g and excellent 3g. I would rate it slightly better than my razr. I like to use the phone on the T (boston subway) and generally I can maintain a signal slightly longer than I could with the razr (which kind of sucks compared to at&t; I think at&t has repeater in the tunnels but that is a different story :) ). The other thing is the razr woudl frequently get 'stuck' on 3g; I find the note 2 is much better at transitioning back to 4g.

I do not own the s3; but have read numerous cross threads on the signal issues with s3 (most people like the s3 in strong signal areas but it had trouble with 3g in fringe areas with no 4g).

Anyways - being open minded I have a few gripes about the note 2; but signal is not one of them.

Why I ask is that I have a Galaxy Nexus right now and the radios are absolutely horrible in the phone. The Galaxy S3 uses the same horrible modems that the Galaxy Nexus uses.
 
The s3 was better than the nexus; butt the nexus was a true lemon. What more can be said ? The note 2 is rather good; I won't say it is the best phone on verizon network but it is certainly one of the better ones with regards to reception.

My note 2 gets better 4g signals than my wife's razr maxx. Motorola is said to have good radios, so this must mean the Note 2 also has good radios. The speeds are also a bit better on my note 2 in the same spots.
 
The problem is that I live in a fringe signal area and the CDMA side of the phone is what I have the most problems with. I can drop a call if I simply look at the phone.

Everything I've been reading has been showing that CDMA radios are piss poor in a lot of phones, no matter who makes it be it Samsung, HTC, or Motorola. I have no idea why.

I keep thinking that maybe I should just cut my losses with Verizon and go GSM with either AT&T or T-Mobile. GSM radios don't seem to have the same technical issues that the CDMA radios have for whatever reason. Is CDMA really that hard to get right?
 
I have had the s3. The Note 2 is significantly better. Even in my underground basement I can place a call. I had no signal there with the s3. Best phone I have ever owned!

That's not true. GS3 in US use qualcomm 3G/LTE modem in S4 chip vs Via CDMA chip in Gnex on verizon. It's better than Gnex on signal performance.

I don't have Note 2 but I agree with owners comments above. My Razr HD is very decent on signal reception, but several my friends Note 2 are just as good or slightly better. Samsung got radios on Note 2 right.
