Help How is the battery life on the Droid X?

Anyone else able to get the "Running" to be less than 100%? I've uninstall programs like Handcent and NewsRob and used a task manager to kill all programs before I put the phone to sleep by hitting the power button. When I wake up the phone, the Running bar is still at 100%. Does the mean the phone never went to sleep?

Exactly what the means. Try The post under you about GPs and all. See if that makes a difference.

Im averaging around 15 hours of battery life with wi-fi off, gps on, and mild use on the average day. Hitting around 13 hours with heavy use and some wi-fi on time

15 hours today (a low battery day for me). My fiancee used yelp for about an hour and a half, I did a lot of SMS on it, GPS, Foursquare, web browsing, a phone call. I'd say it faired pretty well. If an extended battery is released I think I'd buy it, I usually get one for my phones anyway. Even if it makes it thicker I wouldn't mind, as long as it doesn't make it any thicker than the hump it wouldn't matter.

Mine is at 80%. I have Beautiful Widgets, I found out today my GPS been on for probably a few days and I didnt even know. I have the GPS settings in Beautiful Widgets unchecked tho.

I dont think I have the GPS bug. Although I did mess around with GPS widgets and settings today before seeing this thread....Imma have to try the GPS bug test.

I'm trying to kill my battery so I can start fresh.

I'm at 1 day 5 hrs unplugged

Display 67% on for 4 hrs
Voice Calls 21% on for 36 min
Cell Standby 10% - 1 day 4 hrs
Phone Idle 3% - 1 day 1 hr

5% battery left

I'm at home in a good reception area, Playing HR Battle 3D off n on, did a Bluetooth transfer with my Droid that took ages, made a call, surfed the web a lil, used Tapatalk a lil...

Sitting with about 20% left. here's my battery use screen

Display -- 51%
Cell Standby -- 21%
Voice Calls -- 14%
Maps -- 12%
Phone idle -- 3%

16h 22 minutes since last unplugged. I'm satisfied.

At 50% right about now.

Display: 43%
Voice calls: 35%
Cell standby: 21%
Phone idle: 4%

8h 12m 41s since unplug.

Not that great.

What do you consider great? If you did exactly what you are doing that would give you 16ish hours of battery life. I would make sure nothing else is running in the background keeping your phone awake (previously discussed in this thread) or possibly the gps bug :)

So what is the consensus on when to charge the phone. I've heard opposite opinions from different sources. Some say with lithium ion batteries you should always let it completely die and fully charge and shouldn't leave it plugged into the charger unless necessary, and I've also read more than once that you should charge the phone whenever you can. (I realize that the first few cycles should be complete discharges/charges). I'm having some major problems with battery life on this phone so far. I think I can get decent life out of it if I basically disable all the features of the phone, which kind of sucks (I like to be able to be notified of an e-mail instead of manually checking it cause I have to save battery, but whatever). I have a car dock and charger (kinda useless, the battery dies while its plugged into the charger while using navigation), a home dock, and I have another charger that I can take to work. I can basically leave it plugged in a lot during the day if I need to which is ok by me if it won't just destroy the battery. Anyone have a definitive answer? Thanks.

Nobody knows when to charge it. I charge mine whenever I feel like it. 10AM and it hits 70%, I'll throw it on a charger if I'm near one. Lithium Ion batteries don't have a memory so you can't mess them up like that. However, I've seen on the forums (especially the Eris forum) that do a full discharge every once in awhile lets the phone calibrate its battery meter. I don't know how true that is or if it applies to all phone but I usually do that the first night I have the phone.

Nice. I have 60% left at 6:15 with the same usage today. Probably did even more streaming, testing, and browsing today han any other day before it. But im not really sure what exactly caused the improvement since I chaanged a lot of settings, uninstalled the battery monitor i was using and rebooted when i took it off he charger this morning. Switched to battery saver mode from smart mode too. At any rate im happy.

Weird. Hard to believe that I used to get battery life like this a year ago. Nowadays my battery will die long before 6 with the same usage. Wonder what happened. I guess I should get a new battery.

Your usage/experience matches mine. I'm going to try running the battery down to see if that helps.

I'm a bit frustrated because some people have been getting crazy-awesome battery life, and some have not. I bought the phone because of the battery.

i purchased a brand new samsung galaxy s2 a week ago and since the beginning i notice this issue with my battery

i keep my phone on charge from 10pm till 7am.
my phone is configured to the lowest brightness, 2g/3g off, wifi off, bluetooth off, gps off, auto rotation off, proximity sensor on, vibrate off at all times..
and even after this if i unplug my phone at 7am, i have around 89%by 10 without using one app also,
with my regular usage of voice calls being 1hr and internet(wifi)30mins (2/3g)15mins,30-50sms. and about few minutes at random intervals on whatsapp...
with all that usage. my batter barely last for 5hrs...
estimated battery charge remaining for 3hrs 10mins after getting it off the charger 1 1/2hr back

48%android os
36% display
7%internet
4%android system
4%cell standby
2%phone idle

i got a launcher installed and few apps of the stock market. activated wen i want to.

please tell me whether it shows any symptoms of hardware problem or is it just normal for it to be the bugatti of mobile world..(fast but no economy)
