This is all unbelievably frustrating. I'm a long time iPhone user. I would have thought Verizon and Motorola would be thrilled to steal me from AT&T. But sometimes I get the impression they don't want my money. They're certainly making it difficult.

I ordered my DX from Newegg last week, and that has been a fiasco. At the time I placed my order, the website said, in plain english, "we have them! Act Now!" Or similar such words. I placed my order. 24 hours later, it's back stuck in "Awaiting Inventory." When I complained to their customer support, the response was a pretty curt version of "yeah, we don't have any, it's very popular, and we *think* we'll get more on the 13th." I got a similar runaround at Costco. Twice, actually. I drove an hour to a different warehouse than my usual one after they told me they had one. After filling out the papers and handing over the cash, it turned out they didn't. And nobody knew where it went, or how it got listed in their inventory in the first place.

I mean, it's 2010. How do they not know when they'll have additional inventory?

Anyway, for the moment, I'm waiting for Newegg to come through. In the meantime, if I happen to run across one, I might get it, and cancel the Newegg order. I wonder how many times one can "sign up" with Verizon before they think something's wrong with your credit rating...

I wouldn't order from Newegg because if you change you plan you get billed for the whole phone, and right now if you buy a smartphone from verizon you get $50 off so...ya but sorry to hear that, the phone is so great that too many people are ordering...
 
I hope the get a massive shipment Monday as I ordered mine about 5 minutes ago via the VZW web site. I've been waiting until today for my NE2 $100 discount.
 
I called Verizon today and they said since my order was processed on the 3rd that it wouldn't ship until the 19th, I also called about the $50 dollars off. She had no idea what I was talking about. Lame how everyone else can get that and I can't :(.
 
thats what im getting confused over. some seem clueless and are just going by what the website's ship by date had and some of them actually seem to be looking up information. i know some people ordered theirs on the 3rd and are getting it shipped monday yet i ordered mine on the 1st and have no idea when ill get it.

I have no idea either. Wish I did, wish they did, but what can you do.

Ordered mine online on the 31st not thinking to check my email, soon comes the 3rd and i find out that got an email that said i had to do a credit check thing for security deposit??? but i ended up going in store the 4th and finished placing the order... Was told the 18th but i kept calling and kept asking the same questions (whats the status on my order?) and seemed to have talked to someone who knew what they were doing, was told it is to be shipped out by the 6th (if purchased before the 6th) and arrive in a couple days (minus weekend). looking forward to seeing my phone after i get back from downhill mtn biking!!

Yea I told her that, and she was like there is nothing that states that. Only if you activate a smartphone in store by the 8th (which I can't do, due to Verizons lack of inventory) you get $30 dollars off. I don't need the $50 dollars but who doesn't like to save a little money.

Thats what i read somewhere on the droid x forums, so if you find that post about Wirefly which is basically the same thing as newegg you'll see what they do.

Well, its hopefully one more day for shipment for certain users.I'm really tired of waiting, as I know everyone else is. Has anyone gotten a confirmation number yet, or are we not getting those until monday?

I would assume there tracking numbers would not be sent out until monday since fedex does not ship on sundays.
 
someone said the customer service guy told him to call today and that they would have a tracking number for him. so even though they dont deliver they must still have people working.

Ordered online 8/1 around 3pm
Estimated arrival: 8/10
Coming from Memphis to Raleigh, NC!
 
seems like people who ordered online are getting e-mails but people who bought from store arent
 
I just got my confirmation e-mail, I ordered it from the store on 8/3. E-mail says I shoud get it 8/11. I am very excited since a verizon rep i talked to an hour ago said that the ship date was going to be the 19th
