Oh sure, you can tell people to be patient when you just received yours. :( I'm kidding, but you see what I mean. :p

I agree though, somewhat. Sometimes people shouldn't be quite so annoyed or hyper, but I think that we have the right to be excited. Make sure you're noting actual impatience and not someone being excited and/or nervous. :)
 
They DID send me an order number by email AND they sent me a tracking number by email. If you ordered online through verizonwireless.com, there is no good reason you shouldnt have at least an order number... On your home page there is a link that you can check the status of an order.
 
I ordered it in-store, in person. Contrary to many peoples' beliefs, I do catch some rays every now and again. :p
 
I think the fact that we have to wait just speaks to how amazing this phone really is.

Even though it annoys me that I have to wait to play with my new shiny, I blame no one. Motorola and Verizon are doing the absolute best they can. A zillion and one people have ordered an X, so waiting a few extra days is no real bother.

That being said, I won't hesitate to bitch about FedEx at all, I hate that company.
 
I Ordered my phone on the 31st and called customer service twice now.. both times I received different dates.. The first date they gave me was the 5th. I called again today and was told the 25th. Needless to say I was a slightly annoyed/pissed..

I tried registering my phone on verizonewirless.com today just to see what would happen (every other time I've tried this it says my number is not in the system) and It just now finally let me start the process of registering.. Can I assume my phone is on it's way? Give me some good news people lol.

I called on Monday (8/9, when I was told I would receive the phone) and yesterday, and the CSR kindly let me know that the information hadn't changed since the last time I called. Oops! I am laying off and not calling back until the 19th.

[rant]I am serious about the region / market questions I asked earlier, though. I think VZW may have a secret "pecking order" list of markets that gets phones from the warehouses first. If I hadn't noticed this with my 7130e and 8830 orders as well as through posts across multiple forums with other customers having the same experience, I probably would have just passed it off as coincidence. Isn't rural money just as good as metropolitan money, especially when the phones are coming from the same doggone warehouses?[/rant]
 
I really wish Verizon would explain there crazy shipping policies. I think they just put all the orders on a giant board and throw darts at it.

I ordered on the 4th online and got the phone on the 10th.

I got my shipping notification on the 9th and it came next day. I feel bad for all the people who ordered on the 1st or before and still haven't gotten their phones =/

I seriously doubt it's anything as nefarious as that.

Having worked with a lot of supply chains, I am almost certain that the issue is more one of having a somewhat disjointed shipping/inventory system. Don't you see the number of people who call and get told "We can't look up your order"? That's simply stupid. Of course they can look up the order. Someone, somewhere has the freakin' order accessible on the computer.

My guess is it's very difficult for them to look up the order, and it's equally difficult to have a really unified fulfillment system.

The other issue is you may not be seeing perfect first-in, first-out ordering. Stores may have Droid X phones ordered but not fulfilled, and customer orders get fulfilled out of that - so by the ordering system, the order for 25 phones was placed on 07/25 by the store, then the customer actually ordered it on 08/05... but it gets shipped with the 07/25 orders because that's when Verizon sees the order as placed. This would help explain why rural areas get fewer phones - in larger metro areas, the stores have placed larger orders and so they have more phones to fulfill the in-store customer orders.

Supply chain management is extremely complex and a lot of it isn't visible to the casual observer.
 
:mad: UPDATE: we called verizon and they didn't even have us in the system. we have to go to the store and yell at them. Everyone, make sure you do call. Don't let this happen to you.

EDIT: they will not have anything untill we get out phones. so I wont know when I will get my phone till it comes. redundant much?

So am I to understand that the *611-ordered phones are fulfilled by corporate stores? That would be a somewhat passable reason for this to happen. Ill be contacting my (semi)local Corporate location on lunchbreak to see when they are getting their stock in.
 
Ordered mine on the 4th in store...never received an order number or any other type of information, and the phone has yet to ship out....:( I am located in Oregon, which i haven't read of anyone else being from around here so it's hard for me to grasp when this thing could possibly get here.
 
I dont understand why you would keep calling verizon when all they tell you is wrong and out dated information. Obviously there are a few that hadnt rec'd any confirmation and thats different but if you have some sort of order confirmation just wait for your email. The CSR's arent gonna give you what you want.. Just because you are calling Verizon doesnt mean they know anything about the shipping of this phone.. My order is 10 days ahead of schedule. Even though I hate waiting like most of you, be glad its not LATE! Most of you will get your phone BEFORE the estimated date when you ordered so whats your problem? They didnt single your name out on a piece of paper and say, "we'll just screw with this guy because its fun".. Youll get it..

No, all I am saying is that there are many ways for order fulfillment to happen and that it is unlikely that they are singling out locations to receive stock before other locations. It is more likely that there are complexities in the ordering process that you aren't privy to.

I have no idea how Verizon's supply chain works, but I have worked with the supply chains of a few very large organizations and recognize that there are lots of oddities and nuances that are inherent in such a complex system, and most people don't realize that it's not as simple as "place order, be put in national FIFO queue."

vancouver, wa (portland) here. ordered over the phone on the 3rd. processed on the 4th. card charged on the 5th. still waiting......
 
we are in the exact same boat pretty much....hopefully the phones come soon! and for the people who come on here complaining about our impatience.....no one is making you read this :)

Ordered in store on the 3rd. It's on the truck for delivery today, shipped from Memphis. Also, I never received a confirmation email. So if you haven't received an email you may want to call VZW.

You won't receive a confirmation email if you order in store or over the phone, only those who order online should get one.

The only email those who do order over the phone or in store should get is the tracking # when it actually ships or is scheduled to ship.

If you mean tracking # email then I apologize, just trying to clear this up before everyone who doesn't get an order confirmation email starts calling customer service.

It has been said that some of the tracking # emails have been sent out late.
 
Just received both of mine. Ordered on the 3rd (over the phone) and received no confirmation or tracking info till I called yesterday and they gave it to me.

To everyone who hasn't revceived theirs yet, I will cross my fingers that you get them asap as they all seem to be coming well before the dates that Verizon is posting or even telling people... So hang in there....:)
