Help How long does a hard reset take?

Hello everyone. I recently tried to root my galaxy S3 GSH-1747M with no success. I read and read here and there on the net. I was getting **Update failed or something like that** when turning on my phone and then after reading more and resetting it with Odin, I could only get the flashing Samsung screen when I turned on the phone. Kies didn't recognize my phone after that and I finally figured that I could press and hold the UP + Menu + Power buttons and select factory reset and erase everything.

Now I have the little android guy on the phone's desktop with gears turning which tells me it may be resetting to factory defaults.

MY QUESTION is: How long does this operation take to complete? It's been on for more than 20 minutes. Seems to me it shouldn't take that long. Should I retry it and see what happens?

Should take seconds mate. Yeah pull the battery and try again. Let us know if you cant get it to boot or want some help with rooting :thumbup:

Thank you. I played around with it, odined it to death, rebooted and what I had to do was erase the cache first and then reset and then reboot. I wasn't doing something right the first 10 times. lol. I won't be rooting this phone for quite awhile. I will be thankful that it runs and leave it alone. Thank you for your help though. If I do decide to root it in the future, I'll be back here. I just wanted to get rid of all that bloated software google puts with it that is impossible to disable in the background. I can disable some after uninstalling updates but not all.

Hi Admin..

I Got a samsung galaxy s3 from my friend, and i thought to factory reset that and reboot the system. My Factory reset was successful and immediately i started reboot(I don't know anything about that, i did as my friend said). After that it restarted and stucked. It just flashing SAMSUNG logo. Even I tried to remove battery and restart it but it is same no change. Am unable to do factory reset also again or anything else as nothing is working other than that flashing.

I read somewhere in the forum you saying to odin. I don't any such things.. Can you please help me out step by step to solve this problem.
