how long does your battery last..

I must have a sub par battery. I take my phone off the charger at 4:30 and by 6:30, with just the phone checking email every 30 minutes, the battery is down to 90% without even turning on the screen. By the end of the day, with about 60 minutes of web surfing, 10 views of emails, 2 hours of podcasts/Slacker/Pandora/Internet Radio, 15 minutes of talk and a couple checks of the weather I am down to 10% by 7:00 PM.

How many of you got replacement batteries? My Omnia had the same issue when I first got it. I asked for a battery replacement and it lasted twice as long on the replacement.

So I managed to leave the phone be for a good portion of the day and finally I see some promising battery life. I would call today's usage light: read <10 emails, browsed the market for probably 10 minutes total, browsed the web for about 10 minutes total, listened to pandora for about 40 minutes in the gym, and handled about 10 text messages.

At 14 hours since unplugging from a full charge, I'm at 50% left. Spare parts is reporting the phone was running for 20% of that 14 hours, the screen was on for 8% of that time, and bluetooth was on for 72% of the time.

The display is 28% of my battery usage, with phone idle 20% and cell standby 17%.

Even though BT was running 72% of the time, it was only 4% of the battery usage. Even still, I'll probably just turn it off from now on. I only use it when I take a call with my headset, so it won't kill me to turn on BT once the call comes in. I don't wear my headset anyway, so I usually have to grab that and put it in after a call comes in.

I'll pick up a Seidio slim extended battery when they are available, since it will provide a few more mAh then that stock battery and I'll still have the stock for a second battery. I've done that with all my previous phones, except I get the feeling on long days for me, I'll actually put the spare stock battery to work.

At least I know for sure now that my battery can last a full day. I don't think anything is wrong with it.

What I find wierd is that Voice Calls is the leading culprit of battery eater, I got so fed up w/ lack of battery, finally went to Verizon today and they tried to charge me for a replacement. They said it was not a warranty issue because what im getting is normal battery life, which is w/ very very light use 2 phone calls for 30min, I get 10hrs at most. Now throw in web browsing, music, games or anytning other than calls then i get significantly less. If the new battery doesnt suit my needs then im going back to the Touch Pro 2.

I was getting what I considered to be reasonable battery life at about 8-10 hours from full to 15%. (At 15% the prompt comes up, giving me a convenient, consistent base for time measurement.) I was playing with my new toy a lot, though.
Since then, I've set up a few widgets to help keep GPS, WiFi & BT off, as well as my screen time out & luminosity very low, and it's really helped.
I've recently dicovered a few things; In another thread, someone mentions to go into the browser and Google home page. Be sure it's in Mobile mode, and in Settings (on the page), uncheck "Always use my location". This (presumably) keeps the browser from initiating your GPS.
Another thing I found out on my own after monitoring my battery usage more often, was that certain apps were presenting a constant drain on my power even though they were "off". -Stupid apps, like a game, and a "find home" type app (even with the GPS, WiFi, etc off). Neither had any means of selecting an exit or cutting resources, and forcing them to close only caused them to cycle back open, so I shitcanned them. One used 4% and the other 2%. I was also a bit suspicious of a game app that is always "on", using 4% of my battery. Kinda strange, I thought.
Maybe we shouldn't necessarily take for granted that an app is well written, or truly off when not in use.
Also, I see an ongoing debate about app killers not being necessary, but this in regards to the system computing resources being bottlenecked from too many apps running. Apparently they won't, but the apps do suck the battery, at least according to the system's power resource graph.
I'm now at 30% battery capacity after 14 hours, 10 minutes. Haven't used it much today, maybe 3 hours total.

How is that possible? Do you ever look up?

Txt msgs use the same network as phone calling. So you will get substantially less life if you text a lot.

i sell lots of automobile parts so i have people texting me for pictures/parts/prices/etc so if I am going back and forth with 5 or 6 people all day it adds up quick.. I would usually send out about 200 and receive 300. but if im at work that day then its a lot less.

I get alot of life out of mine. I use Twidroid And Bloo all day, browse these forums regularly (along with others), listen to music via stock player and/or last.fm and alot of texts and emails, and it always lasts me from morning to night only sometimes going into yellow. no car charger or work charger either.

A little over 40 hours is the longest mine has gone so far, and thats with the phone idling only checked facebook a couple times that day.

Typical life for me seems to be between 20-25 hours using it regularly

With moderat use I get little over two days. For the most part I just plug it in every night, that way its ready when I need it.:D

I charge mine every night or I won't last the next day. Even if I still have 80% at the end of the night, just in case I do heavy usage the next day.

1hr 47mins off charger. 30 mins of phone call and about 30 mins of games (gang wars) 3 sms later aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand down to 80% battery. go back to VZW? please advise

so after two hours of non stop use you are down to 80% (and I believe thats not an exact # but more of a range number like 80-89) you are upset?

I can go a couple days without charging mine all depends on how much use I am doing. If I'm online non stop downloading and streaming vids then I can kill it in about 8 hours.

its not nonstop. i rounded way up on the usage. phone 16 mins, then 10 TOPS. game was probably 20. sorry i used nice numbers. my screen is set to the lowest display brightness.. does that impact better than automatic? im just saying that i think my battery is dull. i would NEVER switch away from this beast of a device. no iCrap or BoringBerry. just want to most out of my experience. would even consider a bulky extended batt if only it would fit in my VZW MOTO car dock

OK - so I said I was happy with my battery performance at 18-19 hours a day. Since that post, my battery life has taken a dump. I have no idea what happened. I haven't added any new apps, I haven't tweaked any widgets, nothing. Just normal usage. I'm now under 14 hours on a single charge...so basically in the last 5 days I've managed to lose about 5 hours a day in usage. I can't return yet another phone b/c of battery usage so it's gotta be something on my phone that's eating the battery. I've run all the tests and nothing in particular is showing up

Does anyone know how I can restore the phone to it's original state and recustomize the phone from there?

Well I finally uninstalled Weather Bug today. I went to bed lastnight with an 80% charge and woke up to a red flashing notice that my battery had less than 15% charge.

I'm thinking that it just sucked the juice right out of it. My screen is set to auto and nothing else was running. I just wanted to test it with this app (which I do like), but wow.

So...I'm at the office charging it up for the day. Bummer

I just installed Spare Parts which I will use to monitor what is waking up the phone ("Partial Wake Usage").

I agree that 'moderate usage' is highly subjective; I wonder if we could get a couple dozen people to run the same apps for a day - identical usage conditions, with the exception of the service area, would tell us a lot about how fast the average battery discharge is.

spare parts helped me this past weekend. my phone was in my pocket for most of the 4 hours after i unplugged it, yet it was still down to 80% after 4 hours of pretty much no use. I checked my partial wake and saw my exchange email was at like 45 minutes of usage in that 4 hours then i remembered that our corporate email was down all weekend for maintenance.

i have my notification set to push, but i guess because the server itself was down, the phone was trying to reconnect to the server and wouldn't let my phone sleep. Too bad there is not type of 'error' that comes on the screen or notification area when something like this happens. once i pulled up the email app and did a refresh, then i got the little yellow drop down box on the inbox saying it couldn't connect, but if i had never looked at the app (or used spare parts to see the partial wake, prompting me to open the app) i would have never known. i would have just assumed i got no work email over the weekend, meanwhile the app is silent sucking my battery dry.

ick, i just rechecked my weather widget and saw it was set to update every 3 hours. switched it to 12 and i hope that save a little batt!

anybody know if auto vs lowest setting for display is better?? joe droid?

The battery life is my only complaint. I have an iffy signal at work (a school), and the Droid seems to suck a lot of juice there. I keep all of my email on, along with notification, and I twitter quite a bit with my professional learning network. I also download at least 2-3 podcasts a day directly into the Droid.

I purchased a bunch of micro-usb cables and a car charger, and have the cables plugged in at work and in all my computers at my house, so I generally just have a habit of plugging it in when ever I am sitting at my desk, in my living room, the kitchen or my home office.

an extended battery of that capacity is expected to increase the the thickness of the phone, so that doesn't bother me. i just don't like how ugly that door is and the design seidio went with. it looks like the droid is about to give birth to an alien.

previous seidio back door covers for other phones i've had were less gawd-awful and more stylish in the design of the extra bulk.

Wow you're right, the door covers the entire back which is kinda weird. The door actually looks rubberized not sleek and shinny like the original one.

plus i think if you tried to type on the hardware keyboard with the phone resting on a flat surface, it would likely tip over. with my previous phones, the extended battery door was a flat surface that basically took the rectangular shape of the battery behind it, so the overall thickness was increased, but the look was still "boxy" and fluid with the phone. That door just looks stupid.

I am in a similar situation. I exchanged my first droid because of poor battery performance. My new phone worked nicely for the first few days, but the batterly life has slowly gotten worse. I'm usually around 50% by lunch with light usage. I have a very minimal amount of apps installed. I have wifi, gps and bluetooth turned off most of the day. I'm thinking it most likely has something to do with an app(s). I wish there was a better way at identifying exactly how much battery power an app is actually using instead of a % of battery use. It would be much easier to find out if an app is using more battery power than it should.
