How long will it take to use up Verizons Mb Limit

I can go through 5 MB in a day easy. If you're worried about your useage, why not move up to an unlimited package?

I do have an unlimited package but to my understanding, Verizon's unlimited does not mean no limit. They as well as other carriers like Sprint and AT&T have a 5 Gb limit per month. I will attach a chart of what all you can do on 5 Gigs.http://www.evdoinfo.com/content/view/846/63/
Verizon's phone data plans do not have a 5 GB cap. The modem and MyFi plans do; I believe that tethering plans are capped, but the $30 phone unlimited data plans are unlimited.
Verizon's terms of service gives them the right to terminate the contract for forbidden use (the terms specify the use that's allowed - I cannot recall them off the top of my head.)

My friend was using his MotoDroid as his internet connection. He was hitting the 5GB cap but didn't know it, his connection would just start dropping. He called them up and they told him that he was hitting the 5GB cap. He then asked them to explain to his lawyer what 'unlimited data' meant and they reset his limit.

but the only person who has a cap on data as of now is At & t
even with my old eris and all my other verizon devices, i am always using data that goes above 5 GB
and never had an issue

There is currently no limit to VZW'S unlimited data plan. It's 5 GB for tethering (not counting "against policy" tethering like pdanet or root tethering). Even if there was a limit of 5 GB on phone data, it would be VERY difficult to reach it. I use A LOT of bandwidth, and the max I've ever hit in one month was 2.6 gigs.
All that being said, VZW is looking into tiered plans so they may screw us all soon.

Yeah, I do quite a bit of surfing, watching youtube, emailing, and downloading apps/roms and still hit at most 2 gigs a month; albeit I do think the first month I had it i hit 3 gigs

well theres 2 factors really at work here:
there is no limit or caps on the unlimited plan....... its unlimited period
there is however a 5gb cap on tethering...... which brings us to your friends issue
IIRC there is or was no tethering offered for the droid...... which has the ability to tether....... therefore you could tether without a tethering plan.......
my guess is being as such they then place a 5gb soft cap on droid owners.......... at 5gb the most they would do is restrict the bandwidth until you called and complained that you have an unlimited plan...... at which time they would reset your cap because they have no choice......
with this being an Eris forum then I would guess you have an Eris in which case there is no cap whatsoever on the amount of data you use on the unlimited plan......... unless you get caught tethering (nearly impossible without you admitting to it)

My average data usage per month is around 8 GB. In my extremes I have hit 12 GB. Yes, I use my phone A LOT. 
Verizon disconnected my data once because they believed I was tethering. They tried to force me into adding a tethering plan to my line and after I refused they switched me to 2 different supervisors before turning data back on. After I explained how much I surf, download, stream music and video they understood and actually put notes on my account so that I wouldn't have the same problem later. The SCSR explained that after you hit 5 GB two months in a row your account gets flagged.

Yeah I knew it would run up the Gb playing online games. I was just mis-informed about Verizon charging extra if you went over the cap. I have informed my wife not to volunteer info on us tethering to Verizon. I think I pay them enough every month between our bill. Makes me feel better not having to pay the $80 highspeed bill. My $175 Verizon bill doesn't seem so bad now.

Wow, that's pretty funny actually that they thought you were tethering. When it comes to web surfing, what browser do you use? I tried Opera, Skyfire, and Dolphin HD, but I keep going back to stock.

MY usage is about the same as OTD. So far Verizon has given me no reason to think they've noticed. Netflix and Hulu really use a lot.
Thatd be kinda useless... The latency of 3g would make it hard to play games...

Some games. I wouldn't want to play a fast paced FPS with it, but maybe like an RPG or something that doesn't rely on low ping. If you used it with XBL, you could still use party chat and talk to your friends, even if you weren't playing a game online.
Actually i use mobile broadband card for xbox live mostly don't get online to much with the ps3 (By the way i share the connection if your curious not hard at all). I get on quite a bit. Really no issues as long as you have signal. But occasionally i get massive lag and can't do anything. My guess is from how much the tower is being used. But that would just be like maybe 1 minute tops. Out of every 10 halo matches maybe one match it would do that. So it works. And the I can get a ping of 120 ms. which isnt horrible at all. I play halo mostly online and used it with the halo reach beta and no issues at all. I've also used my wireless tether to play halo on my xbox and again no issues at all. Ive been doing it for a year in a half almost and it works great especially if all you can get is _*_*&)(%#^{)(^@(@(^ SATELLITE INTERNET!.....lol. But to the point it really isn't usless unless all you want to do is stream movies.
.......oh ya and i party chat and play fast paced fps games at the same time Demache. And once again done it with broadband card and wireless tether.

After I told my grandfather about how I could tether my phone to my PC to get internet, he seriously considered buying a Droid just to save some money on reliable internet access. Right now he uses WildBlue Satellite internet. While better than dial-up, its still dog slow (the 1 second ping is what does it). And he pays $55 a month for 500 KB down/ 50 KB up.
Although my grandfather is pretty tech-savvy for a 71 year old, its a funny thought for him to buy a Droid.

You mean a wifi adapter for your PC? Yes you would. It would be sort of pointless on a desktop PC unless you don't have a good connection at home. And most laptops already have wifi built-in.
