Help how mail app displays exchange/outlook inbox

First off, I like how we can now sync emails from our inbox subfolders without having to manually load the folder or use Touchdown to do so.

What I don't like is how it still lacks the capability of showing each individual folder I have created within outlook. I can get to that folder by hitting menu then choosing the folder but it would make more sense if it just displayed each of my folders for quicker reference to emails.

I'm wondering if there's a way to make this happen without having to use another app. Touchdown is too clunky and I prefer having all my email accounts on the native app that came with android os.

I have been able to sync all the exchange folders for years. that did not just happen with this handset or with ICS.

starting with honeycomb and now with ICS on the Xoom tablet, the folders show up on the side as you are asking, however ive not seen that in the stock inbox on ICS on the evo.

you are going to have to use a 3rd party possibly (which you do not want to do) or install a custom ROM that may help you. I would post this question in the rooting section and/or search the World Wide Web for other possible options.

Within outlook I have rules created that automatically send the emails to sub folders to organize by sender. The Evo 4G stock mail client would not give notifications whenever an email hit one of those sub folders. The only way I new I had an email was to manually open the folder then it would magically appear as a new email.

Since these phones were being used within a business environment we were forced to use Touchdown from the get go. If the mail client has been doing this on it's own for years then it had to of changed sometime after we were dedicated to Touchdown.

This phone/ICS does it right out of the box. I just don't like the way the information is presented.

Thanks for commenting. I'll continue to look around.

I misunderstood part of your post. You are correct in that there is no notification when sub folders get updated, however I have been able to SYNC all folders in EAS for a while. My apologies for the confusion.

yes the stock mail app has made some improvements but it still has not added that function you need (notify when sub folders are updated) maybe later OS updates will address this? Its not here now though at the moment.

I still think at this point 3rd party and/or rooting are the answers.
