Root how many have rooted this week

Yep, I rooted this week after the latest delay... Really pleased I did...

Gonna have to whack the official ROM back on it though as I'm getting a Desire next week and giving my Hero to a new member of staff!

Got delayed, daughter woke up :)

Mummy's now home so I'm just booting up into Villain 5.3 and will start the Titanium restore.

I rooted and installed senseHero 2.1 on Thursday/Friday.

Downloaded 2.1.2 last night, but I'm gonna give it a few days before I install to make sure any bugs are fixed.

The latest delay was too much for me too - so I've just rooted and installed villain 5.3
No problems yet, GPS seemed to fix fine.

So - now to install Goggles and all the others that are 1.6+ only.

Some the same as you with my g2 yesterday, did you update the radio as i seem to have a much better signal now im sure, well i had a poor signal in my home and now it seems ok the only thing still annoying me is 3g still not working

Not seeing 3G issues myself. What sorta problem are you getting? Did you pickup the 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 radio?

I finally did it and with many thanks to just2exy and Lee it took me right through the night to get there so rooted and running Villain 5.3. :) ;)

Unfortunately I'm not in the UK at the moment so I can't tell you whether Gmaps navigation is working. From what I've read though nav now works officially in the UK so there is no need to use BRUT to force it to work.

I've also read that the GPS needs to be on during boot to get a fix. If it's off you need to turn it on then re-boot for it to work. I think this might be why simondra was saying Gmaps doesn't work. I'll confirm this once it's installed. I'm still waiting on Titanium to finish at the mo :D.
I've flashed Villain 5.3 and all seems good apart from Google Nav. Google maps works fine and even shows the directions when setting a location. But as soon as I switch to Nav mode, voice prompts work, but no live map view.

However, not sure if I broke it by updating google maps from the market.

EDIT: I've also tried the reboot with GPS switched on method too.
EDIT: Working fine now, just don't flash "live wallpaper fix". If you have, find the update.zip to reverse the process.

Yep have the latest radio think its a t mobile problem 3g just doesn't work it cannot download on 3g and always pushes onto H or G mainly G which is a real pain, loads of people seem to be having this issue going by t mobiles forum, hopefully it will get sorted.

iv got exactly the same problem, its so annoying.

What exactly happens with the T-Mobile 3G bug? I don't know if I've ever experienced it.

I mean I also get H a lot but that's not a bad thing.

Well since HTC delayed the update I couldnt stand not having bluetooth any longer. I went with the Sense Rom as I want to retain as much of the htc stuff as possible. Personally I would have paid to get the update from HTC like I have to do on my ipod touch.

well I get 3g come appearing then when it trys to retrieve any data a up arrow shows then it switches to either h or g mainly g for me which is very slow also when in a call if 3g kicks in it cuts the call of and I have to change to g to make a call also it makes calls go straight to voicemail even if you. Have. A good reception. It's very annoying and makes the phone unusable at times.

Well I did get it finished yesterday eventually but then had to go out and didn't have time to post back.

A word to the wise DON'T RESTORE SYSTEM SETTINGS FROM TITANIUM! :D

I initially did a complete restore which also copied back all my 1.5 settings  causing a lot of force closes.

After wiping and starting again (only copying missing apps back from Titanium) I'm now very happily running Villain 5.3. I'm actually much more impressed than I thought I would be. My main goal was to be able to install 1.6+ apps but the ROM itself is very nice. Much quicker that MoDaCo 3.2 and that is saying something as MoDaCo is already much quicker than stock 1.5. I also like the effects between screens which aren't laggy at all. It's true the keyboard is not quite as fast as it was on MoDaCo but I can't type that quick anyway so it's fine for me.

If anyone is still sitting on the fence about updating you really need to give it a go. If you don't like it you can always Nandroid back but I don't think you'll want to do that .

One thing I'm really missing though is the HTC Mobile data toggle widget. I know I can turn it on/off though the power menu, but long-holding power takes that little bit longer than the toggle widget and I'm normally turning on/off WiFi at the same time, so still have to go back and toggle.

So if anyone knows where I can get that from please let me know...

Do you not like the new guy, give him 2.1 :-)

Haha... Well, its a Gal and I think its best to let her have a normal stock phone and then she can do what she likes with it! She has a lot to learn and I dont want to have to add a Android course to her training!

Those widgets were on the 5.2 ROM? Also the Android all in one version was on it too?

Widget > Settings > Mobile Network & Wi-Fi

or

Widget > Power Control

Doh, in the new 'Add Widget' bar I didn't realise that 'settings' drilled down. I've found it now thanks.
