How much data do you use? (concerned about Verizon's tiered pricing)

i use like 850mb a month roughly... like said above when i got my phone the choices were 150 for 15 and if you went over you got 300 for 30, shit ill just get the unlimited for 30 :/ still boo tho

With wimax and the htc evo. I usually burn through about 8 gigs a month. But I hammer on my phone. Out of the 8 lines I have, the smallest amount of data is 1gig from my 66 year old mother. The rest of the line average about 1-5 gigs. With lte, you could expect half that. So 500mb-2 gigs. copestag- most full movies take between 100mb-600mb. Now about radio. Pandora will suck down about 30-60MB/s. ( 64kbps *60*60= 230400kbph. 230500kbph/8 bite per byte= 28800 KBph. 28.8 MBph) At that rate, if you streamed it for 15 hours straight, that would be about 432 MBs, minimum. Just saying. And it can take up for 10 days for any data usage to show up on your bill.

I just checked my usage.

It reads that the last 2 months I used roughly 3G each. I think that's absurd considering I work at home 3 days per week and I'm always on wifi at home.

that's crazy! from what i'm hearing, people use their phones all the time and they aren't even close to 2gbs

I do use it a lot. I use it more than my PC. It's my main source for email, my weather and news update every 3 hours, I'm always surfing the web and checking for apps.
However since I'm always on wifi Wed-Sun, and only using the 3G network during work hours on Mon-Tues, I don't see how I'm hitting 3GB.

I was on a business trip a few days ago and i was trying to tether my phone to my pc, but the lag was horrible. So i just stopped that, an just did what i wanted on my phone. Well i was getting my daily fill of porn, and over the course of 3 days, i managed to knock out 2 +gigs in only a few hrs of browsing. I can imagine when 4g hits, it won't take no time to smash through 2 gigs.

My highest data useage was just over 20 GB in a month. Most of that was audiobooks and podcasts. Since I have had a smartphone my data/month is average around 7-8 GB.

between 5-6 gigs a month. I use slacker alot, download alot of apps, lots of web surfing, tv shows, etc in all reality if you dont rely on your phone as a replacement computer, radio for your car you will probably have to work to push 2 gigs

I'd say I use 1-2GB a month, I mostly browse webpages, I do it every weekday in classes for hours on end when professors get boring and stop teaching (It is amazing how many professors don't actually use what little time they have for teaching). I also always check for updates to my apps. However I rarely use youtube because it takes a good 30 seconds or more to load a high quality clip which can then have to buffer more times in playing, so really 3G is just way too slow for youtube I think. With 4G I'd expect 3GB max each month if using youtube more. However when netflix starts doing all the new android phones properly, then I can see people easily using 10-20GB a month without being too unreasonable, though personally I'd expect to use 10GB max, and I think that's a reasonable limit for 4G, can't wait to see what limits they set.

I bought my wife a Thunderbolt a couple days ago. The person that sold it to me told me that we'd be able to keep the unlimited data until our contract was up regardless of what changes they made to their plans.

From what I've seen, the change won't take place until mid-summer. So you should be able to wait it out for a while, bet the phone of your choice, and then lock in before the tiered plans come. When you finally do have to go to the tiered plan, you'll have enough history to know what you need to get.

Half way through the billing cycle and I have 6.4 GB a month right now. This is a pretty high for me but I just got the TB last week and decided to tether after installing Windows and downloaded all the updates just for the hell of it :).

Tiered data won't bother me much.
Which is why I never complained with At&t having 2gb.
I love the fact that At&t and Tmobile(soon the same company) offer limited data...i feel they(At&t) should offer Unlimited still...

I think with Tmobile I used about 15-20 MB of data of my 200 mb data plan.
When i switch over back to Verizon for the play i'd be seeing the same.

Wifi is and always has been my best friend and it works wonders for me and I prefer it.
Unfortunately with Verizon, i am going to be paying 30 bucks for something rarely gets used ughhh

I was WELL over 2-3GB the first few months I had the phone ("LOOK! I CAN DO THIS ON HERE!") but now I'm usually between 500MB and 750MB. Although sometimes I download a couple radio shows that are like 100MB over the air and that number shoots up.

about 1/2 Gb, a little less than that, around 450 Mb-ish...

Suppose new phone and 4G, I'll probably use a little more, but hope the 1Gb plan will still be enough.

Like Copestag said, it's hard to compare between users and it really depends on what you choose to do with it. As for me, allot of web surfing, email, and downloads & uploads of various data. I average around 2 GBs per month.
