Root How much RAM and Local Storage

I am interested in Rooting my phone but want to know the real advantage other then the great Root Apps.

How much RAM have you freed up Rooting?
How much storage have you freeded up Rooting? (2.5GB out of 8GB WTF?)

I am a *NIX user for many years but this is my first Android. (Glad to say goodbye to my Storm 1). I feel that the process is pretty straight forward and I will have no trouble doing it. But I would love to know the system benefits.

You do not free up any ram. AFAIK, the is not underlying restraint on RAM used, so you will use the full 768MB, same as you do now.

How much internal emmc you free is up to the ROM.

More importantly, you get freedom. Free tether, complete phone backups, total app+data backups, access to iptables, etc. Your phone does what you want it to, not what you want it to within the realm of what HTC and VZW wanted it to do.
