How smooth was the EVO pre-order versus iPhone4

First pre ordering thru RS was simple, pre order Evo guarantees me a phone, but pre ordering the iPhone 4 is insane
 
Yup. What awaits everyone here whining about Evo, how much better Apple is.

Truly can't wait for some people here to truly realize how good they had it.
 
lol...This is classic...taken from one of the comments in the article:

...What's worse is that the first step of the process reups your 2 year contract, so you can't walk away if you get fed up. I had to stick around until it went through, or i'd have a new contract but no subsidized phone.

There is a pre-order for the iPhone, but it states in an email that you will either get it on or after the release date.

I wish I was trolling the iPhone4 forums to see the posts, but I have a better phone to distract me from that.

Iphone pre-orders right now are down and you can't even get past a simple eligibility page without receiving an error page. (I'm trying to help my BF out, that's why I'm putting myself through this crap). Pre ordering for the EVO took me 2 minutes and I got it when I wanted on the 4th. If I was with AT&T right now, I'd probably shoot myself.
 
Keep in mind, the new iPhones will sell like hotcakes (much more than the Evo) and Sprint also had issues with activation and their system shutting down during launch day. It's not like its the first time any carrier's system is shut down.
