Help how to add background?

hi,
it doesn't matter what is the size of the photo i want to use, all of them are too big, and i need to crop the photo.
what is the proper way to do it?

It's in portrait orientation... You need landscape. And please, do read the thread I linked to - it has all you need - the correct resolution, the best way to apply the wallpaper. Everything.
