How to change codec on Verizon Samsung S4?

I want to change the codec from EVRC to EVRC-B on Verizon. Recently, I switched to Samsung S4 from HTC One. Before that, I had a HTC DNA. On these HTC phones, I can dial "##PROGRAM" to enter the edit mode. However, it does not seem to work on Samsung S4.

Does it have a special sequence to enter the edit mode? Thanks.

The service programming menu is locked out on the Verizon S4. If you search XDA forums, there are instructions on how to restore it. It requires rooting and some additional tricks. I'm curious what advantages you found with the other Codec.

EVRC-B provides noticeable voice quality improvement over EVRC.
