Help how to change lock key speed

origr15

Newbie
it's so so slow , it's enoying to press the button for a half an hour just to get it open ... (not really but it's much more enoying then iphone locking or htc hero)..

can i do anything to speed it up or change it at all mybe to make it like th eiphone or hero ?

No, because its a dedicated lock key that other phones dont have. There's probably something changable in the kernel. I havnt looked tho.

it's funny if you were israeli you would have known that there's something you say just for situations like this - Kos Omok...

well i guess we'll just have to wait for :
1.samsung to correct NPS so we could actuallu update (officialy)
2.for them to realize that waiting a year for the phone to unlock is'nt cool
3.for them to finally release 1.6 and a touchwiz for the galaxy (not related but i want 1.6 and a new and deffrent look)

im guessing we have about ... untill hell freezes over untill all my wishes will come true (well at least the ones i told here :D )

I think that so far the feedback on the unlock button has been
almost entirely negative.

- it shipped buggy (you needed to wait after a failed unlock)
- people can't use it with most car/bike holders and when driving
- you can't override it in any way

My own grievance is that it's hard to know what you just did. I unlock
it with two rapid presses with the second one lasting longer.
I find it hard to see whether it is going to be a failed unlock (one of the
clicks didn't register) or is it going to succeed if I keep the button pressed
for a little while longer. Very annoying.

H7 worked perfectly (probably H8 too?). All the other builds had that same failed unlock thing.

I find the only way to be sure it unlocks every time is tap, wait for lock screen then long tap. Its not actually that bad, except sometimes where there's a lag before the lock screen comes up - i guess that's where the normal unlock, hold lock key, fails

Two rapid presses with the second one lasting until the phone
unlocks works very well on H8. Except the 10% of cases when
one of the presses doesn't register and one is left puzzled ;)

Yeah its wierd because NPS worked with their very first firmware. With the latest NPS it actually says only update is suported. Why even bother leaving the NPS processes running on the phone then :P

for me nps wont recognize the phone (wihthin the updating program) but nps itself shows the that android (the phone ) and the sd card are connected..
and even though it does not show my phone when i want to choose it to be updated it does say i have the latest update allready... it's very enoying..

will samsung ever fix it .. all ?

I just realized that regardless of the firmware version, the unlocking process is very fast when charging the battery, but this changes when it's not. I guess it has something to do with the sleeping and energy management of the phone on the various firmwares

I had a look at this yersterday to see if I could find a fix..

If you run a logcat you'll see that when you 'lock' the phone without the charger it goes into sleep. With the charger it doesnt.

For some reason when it comes out of sleep, sometimes there's a lag on the phone. That delays the registering of the lock key and prevents it unlocking, because the timer expires :(

The only real way to fix it is to edit the source code.

Do you find the lock button faster to respond under the Galaxo ROM or is it in my imagination?

Maybe those guys know something about tweaking it?

ive thought exactly that then i realised it was because since ive put on galaxo ive been messing around with it alot and either not giving it much sleep time or having it plugged into usb to play with something.

Its also because they're using BFS scheduler and renice to change the priorities of proesses. This problem really is a cause of the delay coming out of sleep and catching the key in time, which might be alot less on the Galaxo rom.

I'm actually considering trying GalaxoLite next time, just to see the difference

You know you can just press and hold the unlock button. No need to press it twice. That's how I'm doing it on I5 Galaxo and it works every time.

Yeah thats how i used to do it before. But it doesnt work every time. I guess I have more widgets etc so it wakes up slower.

I find press one, wait for screen, press and hold works every time. It takes longer but is better for your sanity!
