how to change the default keyboard from CN Thai to basic english

Hi friends,

i have bought a HTC desire from Dubai- UAE. It has only two options for Keyboard ie. CN Thai and Touch Input Chinese. Also in select locale i do not have India (my home country) as an option .

i have the following questions:-
1. can i have an option for "India" in the locale setting
2. can i install a pure english keyboard
3. if answer to 2 is yes, then can i uninstall the existing options in keyboard ie, CN Thai and Touch Input Chinese

any help on the above will be highly appreciated
